booting problem-please help!thanx

i have just had a ps2 chipped for my nephews birthday{tomorrow} and saved a few quid into the bargain,as i already had a spare copy of dvd region x.
but it wont boot! i checked some backups with it last night in my ps2 and it as usual booted ok,but it wont boot at all on my nephews...........................???????????????? ?????????????????????????????????could it be anything to do with one machine being a version 5 and the other not? or just a slight laser difference between the two machines.........everything else boots fine,backups,ar2,ps1 etc....just the damn region x..........any advice anyone?.............thanx...........martiemcd.

Hi, maybe you can tell us what mod chip are you currently using.

my guess is new chipped ps2 (which works fine if i understand correctly)is likely to be v5
your old 1 is v3 or v4 i gueess
dvdx works with old ps2(its correct version regionx for a v4)
new ps2 (it wont work u need newer version regionx for a v5)
hope u understand
basically regionx has different version old ones work on v4 but not v5
buy new version regionx then it should work on v5
or new ar2 v2 has regionx built in it works on v5 with messiah clone fitted (double press reset as if its ps1 game or dvd film)
