basic question:

do US games work on a jap console?... modchip is installed...

if not, is there a utility to make them work?

Depends on your modchip.

Origachip will boot US originals and all backups using DVD Region X.

Old 8-wire modchip will not boot US originals, only backups using the Utility disk to boot and games have to be patched with the Universal Patcher to make it have the same name as the utility disk.

i have a scph30000
but i dunno wut kinda modchip i have in it... i bought it premodded and neglected to ask. altho it wuz bought in taiwan, and i doubt i wouldve been able to translate the name.

is there someway i could findout wut kinda modchip i have???

You should open it up and look. Tell us whether it has 8,15 or 22 wires. Take a phot if possible and e-mail it to me via my profile.

Our you could try booting with DVD Region X and swapping in a known good backup.

Best is torip it out and put an OrigaChip in if it doesn't have 15 wires.
