I have been backing up my psx cd's for years and know how to copy them and patch them well. I would now like to broaden my horizons and venture into the copying world of PS2.
I hear there are many models of the PS2, how does this affect copying the DVD games? If I use a DVD writer does that mean that the copying process is simialr to the psx one by this I mean once it is copied I just put it in my chipped PS2 and it works? DO different models require different ways of getting the DVD games to work?

It would be much appreciated if you could help me out.

Thank You
Luke

You can only get v5 PS2s. You don't mention where you live and this makes a difference. If you live in a PAL region then the Messiah/Clone is the only game in town, a full no swap solution but the chip is in short supply and would retail between £70 and £90. There is also the Origachip for PAL (c. £35) which is also a full solution requiring a single swap for backups.

You didn't mention your DVD writer; that matters too as it must prduce DVD-R not DVD+R.

Different mod-chips require different boot methods. But v5 defeats many modchips including NEO2.2 and NEO4. With NEO2.5 DVD-Key life is difficult but not impossible.

If you live in an NTSC region, then the OrigaChip is the only solution for you. www.origachip.com and forgive their bad English.

I live in England and basically want to backup my dvd games but want a modchip that means all I have to do is put the backup disc in my ps2 and it works straight off with no messing about with boot discs and disc swapping. I don't currently have a dvd writer and an wondering if to get the pioneer ao3 as it seems to get good reviews

Then you need the Messiah/Clone. E-mail me please and I'll tell you more.
