View Full Version : Neo 2.5 DVD Eject Button/Tray Problem
Hi I have just installed a Neo 2.5 DVD on my v4 US PS2 ....I can't seem to open the tray with the eject button. There is no light on the eject button either. When I press the eject button the reset button turns green. I tested to see if holding the reset button will cycle through all the flashing and different modes and it does ...but only for the reset button .....the eject button won't even light up.
I tried look up this problem on the forum but there were no solutions.
Does anyone know what my problem is and how to fix it?
I even tried resoldering all the wires...and even tested the silver cable with another similar cable....the results are the same ...can't eject...and nothing on the screen also...
Please help..

The Red & Black wires control the tray.
It's very easy to cause a short here. Re-check accross these wires with a multi-meter and correct if shorted.

Leave all the solder points in place, but don't use the pass-thru ribbon (just hook up the ps2 ribbon the way it was) and let us know if it works.
If it doesn't then you know somethings wrong with the board... if it does, then the ribbons might not be hooked up correctly. yadda yadda
btw; does the tray make any noise or movement like it's trying to open or is it totally dead?
Hi
I tried connecting the silver ribbion back its orignal slot... and left the wires alone but it still doesn't work....the eject button still doesn't work.....the tray doesn't move nor does the drive make any sounds....I am thinking that there is no power to the Cd drive or something....I was wondering if you guys know which cable or part controls the power to the CD drive?
The only part that I see power up is the reset button light and the fan....
Please help if you can Thanks

If you're not getting a current to light the Eject Button (Blue Light) at all, I'd assume the break is before there's even a current sent to the drive. Double check your flat ribbon that goes to the Reset and Eject buttons to make sure it's not split on one side. (These are very delicate!)
If u don't have a disc in the unit already then lets try one. Take the top off, remove the small black screws on the top of the cd drive unit and remove the lid. put the cd in and replace the lid, power up and see if the game loads, if it does then you may need to replace the cable to the reset/ eject switch, check the red & black wire also and make sure the little plug is fully in where these wire are as this is the wires to the tray motor, use a meter to check for shorts between the 2 wires as well.
