I have read that the newest safedisk looks to see if the media in the cd rom is a flat press or a cdr and that CDRW's can report this but cd roms can't my question is can dvd's report this since thay can read CDR's? because if i don't use the hide CDR function on CloneCD with my DVD Rom its a case hit and miss to if it will play or frezzzze :(

What type of dvd-rom do u have? The reply is NOT! Dvd roms are like cd-roms and doesn't check for atip code.At least have a toshiba one and it reads sudchannel data but not atip...tested!

TIP: Maybe the problem becomes when ur dvd unit try to read something that original has an your copy doesn`t.
Something like happened to me when i copied some games with subchannel data reading from my dvd and burning with a plextor...it worked everywhere excepts my dvd unit......
Simple to check your drive.
Download CDR Identifier from cdmediaworld..
####://www.cdmediaworld.com/cgi-bin/dlcmw.cgi?cdrid163!zip
Use this to see if your drive returns any ATIP info.
But, to my knowledge, no DVD reader (not combined DVD+CDR burner) can check the ATIP. Only burners (and not all of them either)
Thank you your help is great

some dvd drives actually have problems playing cd-r's due to the high reflection that they have compared to everything else.
