I can't make a 1:1 copy of it, even with my plex 121032A with the 1.04 firmware :/
but using deamon tools with the clone image, it works, without having to emulate any of the 3 protections....

Does anybody know what protection is used?

Thanks

Well I checked the EXE and its been Packed with Petite, im not sure what version..I guess the latest, ive been workin on unpacking it but its tough, there is no anti debugging software protection just the packed PE (portable Executable) so its a matter of unpacking it and dumping the image then rebuilding it and fixing the Import tables etc, its something ive been trying to do for about 2 weeks, ive done it with Safedisc (using tutorials etc) but this is tougher. anyway, as far as I know the protection is "Petite" packing the exe. I have heard some ppl have made perfect 1:1 copies of it , i guess it depends on your burner and software.
hope i have helped ya in some way dude.

i finally made a 1:1 copy of EE

when copying from my toshiba dvd drive to my plex 121032, clone with every options checked or not game me non workings cds...

the solution (for me) was to mount the image with daemon tools, and then copy with ccd (subchannels checked), from daemon tool to the plex

hope it'll work for you, try and tell me :)

oO? That's a crazy idea there, Bricolo...but it might be crazy enough to work...I'll have to try that. I can get it to work in Daemon tools (like you said), but never a 1:1 burn of it.

*Crosses fingers*

hmm, the copy could play, but it still can't install (got to 74%). What settings did you use for reading/write the image?

read: both subchannels
write:burnproof and close last session

my copy works, but i haven't tested to install the game from the copy

That was a great idea Bricolo! Not only did it work for Empire Earth but also (after a 4+ hour image burn) for CIV3! CIV3 installed and ran fine, 1:1 copy not using any cracks, haven't tried to install EE but it runs without a cd crack.

OK guys, I was thrilled there for a sec when yall were making the 1:1 copies. Could one of you run some step by step instructions? I have never used Daemon's Tools. But I downloaded it, got CloneCD, made an Image, with the 'read sub data and audio' checked, then I mounted the image into Daemon (With no Emulations selected) and tried burning a cd-to-cd copy in both Nero 5.5 and CloneCD, both can't read the image, and after opening 'My Computer' it shows the Virtual CD-ROM containing 1 .cda audio file. It says the size is 482mb. I also tried burning the image from CloneCD (using CloneCD) and it made a duplicate 'Audio' cd. What did I miss?

That's work fine, thank you very well !

jetcrazy > Clone CD 3.3.4.1
Create an image file
Select reader : your burner (plextor for me)
Options : the two subchannels options and fast skip errors
Close CloneCD when image write successfully
install Daemon Tools 3.0 (a traybar must appear)
Right click / Virtual CD-DVD / First / Device 0 (the first option)
Mount image
Select your image .CCD made by CloneCD (remember the letter code)
Run CloneCD
Write an image
Select the mounted image (the famous letter code)
Options : Check only close session & burnproof

Enjoy !

(sorry for my poor english, i'm french and i do my possible)

Petite is NOT a cd authenticating protection mechanism. It WONT stop you backing up a cd.
It merely compresses the app and stops it from being dissassembled.
The question is obviously what is being used to authenticate the cd. If folks are struggling to backup, it could well be a commercial system like safedisc2 or securom2.

Just use Clony or similar on your cd to see what the protection is, and then re-post so we can give some help.

@darkcluster

What have you used to id the packer? If you can determine which version it is I may be able to help you. Mail me ;)

It doesnīt matter what protection is used! I just made an working backup CD of the Original with Clone CD 3.3.2.1 and thatīs it. It took about one hour but it works!

Why you all have problems to make a perfect copy of this game ???

To make an image on my harddisk --> 5 Minutes
To burn it on cd-r with CloneCD 3.3.2.1 --> 5 Minutes

I've used a Samsung-DVD-Rom (it can read both subchannels) and burn it with my Acer CDRW 2010A (it can make 1:1 SD2-Copys - EE isn't SD2).

CloneCD Reading:
read subchannel data from datatracks YES
read subchannel data from datatracks YES

CloneCD Writing:
Dont repair subchannel data YES

Why are some of you using deamontools to run in the backround when you write the cd?
