I have a HP 2x2x6, so I believe its time I upgrade to a new burner. I was wanting to know what everyone else's suggestion would be. Also I'm using Memorex CD-R 700/80min cd's, and sometimes my Dreamcast wont recognize the discs. I was looking to ####t using some other type of CD-R. What kind is best for burning backups?

Iv'e used Memorex with the Dreamcast and never had any problems at all - perhaps I'm just lucky.

However, a friend had trouble not only with Memorex but also with Ritek (not recommended by me), even though these discs were fine on mine. He had to leave his machine running for a good hour before he could recognise these problematic discs.

Perhaps then it could be you Dreamcast's calibration? Perhaps.

Iv'e used many brands on the Dreamcast: Verbatim; Traxdata; Memorex, Mirror(yuk); TDK; Kodak CD-R Ultima. From my experience the problems arise more with what hardware you're burning with or what burning software you're using: When using CloneCD, I can copy games but there's a 15sec pause when some of the self-booters load. Conversley Disc Juggler copies the same games (even copies off the problematic discs), without problems!

Disc Juggler 3.00.755 FTU and CloneCD 2.7.8.1 need specific support in order to burn Dreamcast titles. I use a Traxdata 8432+ writer (cheap copy of a Phlips drive).

Hope this helps you out a bit m8. Let us know if you get any good results :-)
