I created a backup of the game using clone cd. The readme file stated that for my graphics card (Intel 810) you had to remove the ";" from a line, and you had to update graphics/sound drivers. I did all this, and when I try to run the game, it crashes back to the desktop. The game installed properly, and I used the cracks listed here. What am I doing wrong?? I did not download the official patch, since I have a 56k modem and dowloading it might take me forever (30+megs). I tried playing a demo of thief 1 that came in a demo disk from a magazine, and that doesn't work either.

A good friend of mine "had" the same chipset and was having a ton of problems running more modern games that were graphic intensive...finally I convinced him to disable the onboard crappy video card (no offense but a fact is a fact) and replace it with a rather modern video card. The problem is that you "usually" do not have an additional AGP slot so you will probably be forced to use a really good PCI card...since 3dfx has fallen by the way side I will recommend the exact same card my buddie used and he is now happy as heck...use the Hercules GeForce 2 MX PCI card..it will not be as fast as a "Good" AGP card but it will play all the games you want and look stunning!!!

You can order it direct from Hercules for $99.00 if I remember correctly, yup, just #####ed and here is the link:
