Diablo 2 LOD fixed exe

New here, just wondering what a fixed .exe does. And what does it do for Diablo 2 LOD.

The exe file is in your D2 directory on your hard drive. In D2 it says "game" and it has no corresponding icon to speak of. Replace the exe with a fixed exe to play your game without CD.
