A Person in a different forum has confirmed it to work on a US 30001r v5 with a gameshark2 v1.93. He said it took less than 15 minutes to install.
thanx for the reply

I recieved one from from gamegizmo.com, but it does require one "bridge-wire" solder. It was very simple though, and works great. (If its the one you are talking about.)

No, what you describe is a usb mod, this is a internal no solder modchip for v5 PS2's only.

Sorry 'bout that. It does sound interesting though, so I think I'll check it out for myself. Thanks for the info.

I just checked out the info on it, and it is much simper, due to the fact you don't have to solder anything, as well as take off the top plate. One thing I also noticed is it claims to play CD-R and DVD-R games flawlessly, while the NEO-Key (USB) just mentions CD-Rs... Does this mean it won't read backed up DVD-Rs?
USB mods don't play DVD-Rs.

Ordered one yesterday... Thanks again for the info. I also found through newsgroups and forums that burning a DVD image requires NTFS formatting, if anyone cares... I re-installed Win2000 on a one o' my partitions with NTFS formatting and all is well... Thanks to everyone who helped!
just got mine in the mail to day,I will let you know how it works tomorrow.

Where did you order from? I ordered last week and shipment is delayed, seems like thats the case every website I check out. Are you in the States?

Hey guys, while we are on this subject, what is the best mod chip I can get for a 30001R v.4? Thanks for any help. And would it be best to use the GS2 1.93? Thanks again from a Dad who likes to game!

I just wanted to know how relevant the two screws in the expansion bay are? I have a scph 30001R but I don't have those two screws in the expansion bay. I bought my PS2 two weeks ago and have a usb mod but I was just interested in installing a few of these no solder mods on two new systems, which also are scph3000xR and don't have the two screws in the expansion bay. Thanx in advance for any help.

If it doesn't have 3 screws in the expansion bay then its a v4.

So, it is safe to conclude that it won't work on all scph 3000xR 's?
Nightstalker is there any reason why it only works on the version 5? Just curious.

The board designs are different, there is no way to plug the r-mod into the board on any other version than a v5
