patch help

Hi all.I am having problems getting a patched game to work.The last game i tried to patch was tarzan.I got the protection patch from megagames and applied it to the cdrwin bin file with ppf-o-matic,it came up with the message succesfully applied burn back to cd.After burning,i tried it in my chipped playstation and it booted with one of those daft "this game is patched from paradox"blah blah.When i pressed start the game started to boot but then froze.This has happened on all the copy protected games i have tried to patch.What am i doing wrong?My version of cdrwin is the demo mode could this be it?Please help.
