RAW reading and writing

hi. i'm a newbie and need help.
i just found out my NEW LG 8160B doesn't support RAW+96 reading. Does this effectivley mean I can't backup PSX games? can i read games and then patch them for my mod-chipped PAL PSX console?

and have to wait for patches to turn up i guess
