Did I screw up my soldering...?

Heya,

When I was soldering the mod chip onto a 900x model, I bumped a small component on the board and it shifted a bit, like a milimeter.

HOWEVER, the PSX still loads normal games fine. Does this mean I didn't screw up the board?

No, just try to put it back the best you can. I believe it is a fuse. A very small rectangular block like object soldered at both ends to the board. Be careful not to drip solder underneath it and on the board, thus connecting the two ends. I did this when I was a novice and have learned to 1)use a low wattage iron, 2) DO NOT leave the iron on one of those fuse connections too long, I'd say no more than 2 sec otherwise you will heat it up and it will slide off. If you can't connect the wire, back off, let cool and try again. Don't be afraid to put some solder on the iron thus dripping it on the end. Try making a bend on the wire thus laying it on top. I know it is hard to keep it still.

well, I touched it with a low wattage (25) iron for less than a second, and it moved.

So you are saying that I need to move it back to make sure my modchip works, even though normal games can play?

If I understand you correctly, Yes. Move it back. Remove any solder drippings if you have them. I don't like soldering pumps, but prefer the soldering wick. Its cheaper. If you have no dripping, then great.
