Sorry.....confused...please help!

I been reading through the post. I'm new to all this. My question is - - - If I back up a playstation 1 game and install a patch....Will the back up work if I do not have a mod chip? Or no matter what I need to get a mod chip? And one more question...if it's not a protected game then will a straight burn at 2x or 1x using CDRwin work?

burnt games DO NOT work without a mod chip installed. yes burning an unprotected game straight with cdrwin will work (on a chipped psx).

You don't have to have your PSX chipped you can also use a Exchange Cd brought from places like

http://playstationmods.com
http://www.kanection.co.uk

and it will play back-ups fine.
