1) What brand of CDR has worked best for backing up PSX games?
2) What brand of CDR has worked best for backing up PS2 games?

I have used "Office Depot" Specials for PSX backups with no problems, but my PS2 backups tend to "tick" when my PS2 is looking for information on them.

I switched to "Verbatim Platinums" which were a little better but not quite solving my PS2 problems. I really don't want to adjust my Laser if I can solve the problem by switching media as I have been told that changing the laser can shorten it's life-span.

Any help?

I use Memorex,& same brand that you've been using too.no problem here I burned crazy taxi for PSX2 no problem and for PSX or PSX1 games no problem there either i never had to down load and other software and i've been doing this for 5 years if not longer.well i hope this helps also watch your writing speed never write faster then your psx can read or it won't read it at all ok?

Thanks for the information. Something I just read was to use my CDR/RW as my Reader for making backups, I will try this too. I haven't had a "failed" backup yet, but there is the annoying ticking noise and sometime there is hesitation when playing graphic intensive games (PS2 games.)

Thanks again.

you might try looking at your PSX reader i work on computers that sounds like it's throwing you CD off balance and you might need to realign you cd reader on your PSX.

For Playstation I prefer PNY's Black diamond, they have the same scratch protective black coating as regular Playstation disk and it really helps in keeping the scratches away from the information.

I've been using Office Depot CD's for back-ups and have only experienced problems 1 time and that may be due to my recording technique...but I'll post that question farther up.

I pick them up at staples office supply store, they carry a 50 pack and best buy usually has a 10 or 25 pack as well.

The question of which CD-R's are best to use will always bring up a good selection to.

From my experience i have found that it is down to each user on which they use as i have used Memorex and had loads of problems but then went and bought some cheap un-branded from pound stretcher and every single one worked with out a single coaster.

At present though i use MIRROR spindle of 100 from playstationmods.com for £34 inc delivery, they are un-branded and i prefer this than to having some ones logo splattered all over my discs.
