Problems with NEO2 MOD on PS2

I have a european PS2 and am thinking about
building in a NEO2 MOD chip.

Now my questions:

I heard that the CD-Drive will open during
an file access !!!??? That will lead to a
destruction of the drive in some cases.

Is this true ??????

Do I need to patch the copied game CD ?
(similar to PSX1 copies)

When does the new NEO3 will come and should
I better wait ?

Is this true ?????? YES & NO. IN MY EXPERIENCE, THE SWAP TRICK AS IT'S KNOWN DOES NOT LEAD TO ANY DAMAGE WITH THE DRIVE. YOU DO HAVE TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO SCRATCH YOUR CD/DVDs.

Do I need to patch the copied game CD ? SOMETIMES. IT IS QUITE SAFE TO USE THE UNIVERSAL PATCHER (PPF). GOTO TO MEGAGAMES.COM TO READ ABOUT THE SUBJECT. THERE ARE ISSUES AS TO GAME ORIGIN (US/JAP)

Install the Neo 2/2.2 I have been using it for months and have installed into at least half a dozen mates PS2's as well and have had NO problems what-so-ever. Boots GOOD backups first time everytime.

Heres some more questions:

1. How easy is it to install?

2. Will it bypass the protection from some of the ###ne games? (Like LOD and Dino Crisis)

3. Can it play DVD-Rs? (Those burners cost a LOT!)

and 4. Should I get a Keyboard with my Gameshark 2?
