Metal Gear Solid 2 backup freezing

Anybody have any luck with their backups where the game doesn't freeze on the stairs going up to C-deck?

-I have tried Raw on/Raw off
-Converting to an ISO, Addzer0, etc...

I have a GS 1.3 and use the Cog/Knife method to swap games.

Any help is appreciated.
