At this point in time is it possible to play import PS2 games?

I want to buy a US PS2 but i'm hesitant because i haven't got a straight answer, my question is...

Is it possible to play an imported game (japanese) on my US PS2? And if so, which mod chip do i choose?

Messaih or Neo 4 which are both impossible to get I'm not to familiar with the Origa but from what I heared it can play import originals

i know that pal version neo4 doesnt allow you to play ps2 imported original games. dont know about US version though

messiah not that hard if u looked hard earlier
now u can get messiah clone(untested being fitted today)
neo4 r availabe
origa r available 2
but messiah or a messiah clone is best option
messiah clone on ntsc has to b a version4 ps2
