what is pal and ntsc

i am using cdrwin 3.8d with bootedit, trying
to learn, from the usa, what is pal and ntsc
and where can i find info on all this stuff
what type of patches do i use and what else do i need to know about besides patches,what is a trainer does this teach you how to use the patch for the different games ??????

pal is the television system used in europe and australia
ntsc is for the us and japan
ntsc constists of fewer lines which build up the image on screen compared to pal
most tv sets in the us are incompatible with
pal thus pal games need pal2ntsc fixes to work
properly on us systems
