In the computermagazine I buy each month there was a article of PSX-games. In it they talk of a new kind of "protection" for the new games that acts like a virus. Every time you play your backup it ads faults to the game and in the end it becomes unplayable.
Has anyone else hear about it or seen it???
I haven't but I only have backups for PS1.

no no you guys are wrong. the protection is still libcrypt based but instead of the game crashing, it degrades. geez how would the game know its a copy unless it asked for that magic code then did a mod #####!!!! it is also probably an LC3 or 4 protection so it will ##### all the time.the patch for it will (should) stop the game from #####ing therefore it wont ever degrade.

How is it physically possible to degrade a CDR in the PSX. What does the PSX do to make the copy degrade?

It doesn't!
It stores data when you 'save' game.

dont know bout that bot I had a tester lose player value after the patch wihtout any save being done but that was on memorex disk so I wouldnt read to much into that could quite easily have been the media no probs yet on kodak silver/gold been weeks now so I would presume its safe to use.
