Driving me mad ! Sbox mod and AR2 V2. Please Help !

Hi,
Can someone help me to keep sane? I have an sbox external mod chip and am using AR2 V2 to boot from.
The bit that is annoying me is that it seems so "hit and miss" as to whether my games will boot or not.

I use the following sequence that occasionally works but more often does not.

Turn on PS2
At PS2 logo switch on Sbox
Choose Start Game / Without codes with AR2
Manually eject disk at prompt (Note: a lot of instructions possibly for gameshark or older AR2 say that the tray is ejected. Not for me!)
Put in copied game
Press R1 and X at same time.

I see many methods stating different times to turn on the sbox and different buttons to press (X or R1 and O).

Surely someone has a tested method that will boot games every time on AR2 V2 ????

Please help before I start to tear my hair out !!!

had the same problem---

I adjusted the laser pot to just over 600 ohms & all is fine now!

(see PS2 tutorial on most popular PSX games sites)

(if you need more details - post me.)

DO NOT adjust the DVD pot - just the laser.
** also - ONLY use good quality CDr's for backup - ie. VERBATIM 24x (not cheapo types) as SONY seem to have calibrated the laser to be VERY fussy about which disks it can read reliably.

I found the following 2 methods most reliable;

Turn the SBOX on at the Start Game Screen.
Select Without Codes
Eject the Tray at the same time as hitting the X button.

The above method works best with import backups, where as below is fine for PAL

2nd Method

Turn the SBOX on at the Start Game Screen.
Select Without Codes
Eject the Tray and put back-up disk in.
The load disk, when the tray is half way in hit X button.

eh, i am using sbox, but i have sent it to change to the internal neo2.5 mod chip instead. but i'll just share my part on starting my game

i am using the PAL 30004 R PS2
with sbox and AR2 Version 2

what i did was this

Power on the PS2, put in the AR2 Boot disc...select all the codes that u need, if your games does not need any codes, select no code...
and when you come to the screen that ask you to put in your game cdr, eject the boot disc, switch on your sbox, put in your CD and close it...wait 4 to secs then press X...it should load up.

It works perfectly for me, but i don't know if it will work for you, but can always give it a try
