Well i thought i had everything right, i turned it on, and boom its in japanese again and it thinks its a scph-10000 console (when its really 15000), so i took off the modchip and turned it on, still thinks its a 10000, and when i put it back to english language and reset it, it goes back to japanese, also it doesn't ready ANY disc i stick into it. It keeps saying no data in the browser. So im screwed. It's all over for my only playstation 2, thanks everyone that helped me, its my bad.

hey r u sure?

i think ur PS2 is not screwed...
Bring it to a technician or somethin...
'coz the chip only emits signal and not power...
definitely its not dead...
i think (or maybe) its the chips legs ...
try seeing the legs through a lens...

hope these helps...

that was also my idea, i have a mag lense and i see two of the legs have soder between them, but i cannot seem to get the soder off or at least get it to spread to both legs and not connect inbetween. I've been sitting here for like an hour working on those two legs, any tip on how to remove soder? cuz im clueless =(

Well i got it to start and when i save it in english it says in english and it is now reading CD. This is without the mod chip, but it still thinks its a scph-10000. Is there any way to fix this?

How can i find a technician? I live in the US in california, and the only place i know of they still deny there is even a modchip for ps2 and they think they know everything.

I do know something but not that! Have you tried booting from the utility disk, going down to the 4th menu item and reloading the drivers into your memory card?

Have you got a JAP speaking colleague/friend who will sit in front of the menus for you and translate?

It seems to me that it is going back to a factory ROM situation which most likely is caused by a short somewhere.

Why don't you visit this site and then e-mail NHJ who's the sharpest cookie in the Jap PS2 game?
