I have toasted so many cdrs its not even funny!
I have an Acer 12-8-32 with Adaptec software,

Let me get started, I tried to backup my sons psx game Batman and Robin, it is copyprotected, i tried to copy it and it stops at about 91%, i got some information and it stated that this game is not uncopiable. I am very much new at backing up games for psx, we have bought about 25 games, and i would like to keep and archive away from the kids, the ones they have are getting scratches on them and i really don`t want to lose all that money. Could someone help a dummy? i am not good at the software, but people tell me that it is a snap to copy games, we`ll go back to the dummy statement above again!!

Please help!!!

You are going to have to become familiar with the www.megagames.com/psx site. All the info you need is here. Firstly you need cdrwin as your burning program as adaptec in no good for psx stuff. Cdrwin can be found in the psx utilities link. Practice using cdrwin with unprotected games first. Once you can copy these go to the psx patches link, and there you will find instructions for patching protected games. Take it one step at a time and you will find that it really is a simple process.

Cheers.

CDRWin is the one for you.... patching or not it is simply the best for this intended purpose.

Here are some general points to consider.

1, Set up your system first, by this i mean dissable anything that may interrupt the burning process, screen saver's, power management support, virus software, schedualed tasks etc.
*processor interruptions during burning can cause "buffer under runs" wasting more cdr's.

2, Never record "on the fly", Dont do disc to disc copying, always copy to you hard drive first (create an image file [filename.bin]) in a seperate folder.
* use PPF-O-MATIC to apply any required patch at this point.

3, Burning the Image File, Keep your reading and writing speeds low, i recommend 4x for reading and 2x for writing.
* Slower reading and writing reduces if not completely eliminates audio problems and FMV (Full Motion Video) skipping.

All the files and programs required can be found on www.megagames.com
