read and write cdrwin speeds

can anyone answer once and for ALL the question of read and write speeds that should be used for cdrwin? Ive heard so many variations on the answer..
I know that you CAN make a working copy using highers speeds than 1X, but does it REALLY reduce the quality of the backed up disc?

Copying at faster speeds is hit and miss. As a general rule, for games with multiple audio files, it never works at higher speeds. What happens is that the audio tracks are not in sync with game play. Some games work ok at higher speeds (I've gone as high as 4x, when going from a good copy to another good copy) but these are usually simpler games with only one audio track.

Trust me....you'll stand to create a lot of coasters (unless you did what I did recently, which is to use re-writable CDs) if you try at higher speeds. All u sacrifice is an hour of your time per game...

Do the CD-RW work on the PSX?

I've always used NERo5.3.8 , and cloneCD to copy PSX games. I did used at 4x speed with no problem at times. But its best to copy at slow speeds , like 2x..

The best speed (Read/Write), which has fewer problems in reading sub-channels and audio tracks, is 1 to 1>. Some will say 2x and some said 4X! but the quality of the burned CD will be low (even it is works, but it will take longer to load and causes the Laser motor to make more noises).

a lot of you seem to be confused.the speed you can burn at is down to the hardware not software!!i burn psx at 8x with my plextor even when i use cheapo disc's they still run fine.the speed you burn at doesn't affect quality you are not copying tape to tape like on a hi-fi.the pc treats all tracks wether audio or data as data so there is no quality loss.my last writer was a hp and could only burn at 2x even with tdk or sony discs but now that burners are better you can burn quicker.

i agree with previous post,i do em at 4x,only cos that`s what my burner can only do :(

and RW will never work on a psx,the laser is not calibrated/set up for them.
