uk region 2 hack for jap ps2

right if u live in the uk and have a jap ps2
u had better read this

right get your uk region 2 dvd put it in the ps2 and press reset. know here is the tricky part
hold Up,select,L1,L2,R1,R2,X,O,SQUARE,TRINGLE on the duel shock2 pad. when the screen goes black the dvd menu pops up from here select play.
tested on a scph150000 with mi:2 thunderbirds and pokemon the first movie (all uk region 2 dvds)it should probably work on a scph10000

Foxy - brilliant, well done - so far.
On my Jap Modchipped scph 15000 it needed only the following buttons pressed together:
L1,L2,R1,R2,UP - much easier than your original recommendation.
Of course it didn't actually work. It got me to the Jap DVD menu which, thanks to the UK manual I got off a UK PS2, I managed to decipher-ish. When I pressed the PLAY key on the menu, the PS2 locked up with the PLAY legend on the top rhc. For now I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the PS2 because the Black Adder DVD was bought in France. I'll post the outcome in a couple of days when I've got hold of a pukka UK DVD. If it works, my hat is off to Foxy. If not, perhaps someone can tell me what's going on.

Need to see one first. I think the problem of playing UK DVDs will be the same. Whether the workaround in the 15000 will still work has to be left until then.

what is your dvd software version???
is it v 1.00 or the latest one v 1.01 (SCPH 15000)

I have Jap PS2 SCPH 15000 with DVD driver v1.01.

Having obtained several UK DVDs, I can confirm that the dual shock button pressing trick described in this topic doesn't work - not even producing the DVD menu.

Regionless DVDs (including PAL) play ok on this PS2 without any tricks.

So that leaves us as follows:
1 Japan is Region 2 NTSC
2 UK is Region 2 PAL
3 How does one get a UK DVD working on this PS2?
