Can i use the swap trick with my pal ps2?

I've downloaded fargo and theres an option that allows you to copy the boot code of any original game. My pal ps2 did not come with a utility and i want to burn ssx, but my ps2 did come with a demo disk.I have all ready copyed the boot disk code (from my demo disk) to my ssx.bin file, but can i use the disk swap method to make the burnt ssx game work?
