i'm buying a dreamcast

it seems so much better than the ps2. half the price, you can play alot of console games on it, play psx games on it, watch movies (divx, baby!), listen to mp3 cd's, get copies of the games, they're everywhere, there's no need for mod detection patches, and a hellavulot more, its everything the old psx is and more.. the dreamcast has better hardware than the ps2, except the dvd player. but the money you save buying the dreamcast, you could go out and buy a better dvd player than the ps2 one. but seriously.. you know sony is gonna release the games only on dvd's to prevent us from copying them. (and they probably wont even use 650mb) cos making copies of dvd's in less that massive proportions is just insane, costwise. i mean, seriously, the clear choice is the dreamcast. its a real gamers machine.


(p.s.- you dont wanna buy a console with a harddrive in it, that will STOP copying games. or atleast hinder is massively)

I have both a dreamcast and a ps2, and to be honest, so far, the dreamcast is better in regards to my taste. The only game keeping me playing my ps2 is FIFA 2001, since I LOVE international soccer. Other than that, the dreamcast is my choice right now. Heck, I have Quake 3, and to be honest, that game is so much fun with the online play, you won't think about getting a ps2 until IT goes online. From what I've heard, there won't bit any triple-A titles for ps2 until march, unlike DC, there are all kinds out right now (SHENMUE, SOUL CALIBUR, etc ...).

I'll appreciate the ps2 more when all of us can figure out how to play backups without this stupid Modchip bullshit.

Hey i have to say that the ps2 is better but only by a bit at the moment wait until they unleesh the real power of it. Also look at the games there arn't that many good games also the proccesing power of the dreamcast isnt as good as the ps2 u look at quake and u can only have a maximum of 4 people/bots were as in timesplitters u can have 10 bots and i think 4 more people ( i havent tried 4 people yet so if someone can veriyfy this i would be greatful ) plus a lot of places ( in australia have stopped stocking dreamcast games and once they sell there stock thats it and a lot of the video stores never bothered to get dreamcast stuff. ) Anyway the ps2 has a dvd player, but as long as u play what u play and your happy it doesnt matter.

The_Inquisitor, not to be mean, but do you know how stupid you sound when you say Dreamcast has no good games. It shows you don't keep up with gaming news. DC has A LOT of triple-A titles.

Also, think about this. Is the PS2 worth the money as a CONSOLE. You're paying twice as much for a PS2 than a Dreamcast, but from the games I have played, the graphics are definitely NOT twice as good as a Dreamcast. Yeah, they're a little better, but just A LITTLE. The launch lineup for the PS2 was nothing compared to that of the Dreamcast.

Anyway, all I'm saying is that this war between these 2 systems will go on for a while. I have both systems, and I'm proud to say that they're both really good. Although I'm still waiting for a really good PS2 game to evolve soon. The only good on now is FIFA 2001.

the Assassin said it all,i 2 have both systems and for the money you cant beat the dreamcast,it has better games than PS2 also if you look at the release dates for upcoming games the dreamcast wins that battle to .I got my PS2 oct,26 [the release date] and so far i'm not that impressed.They have about 35 games so far and maybe 5 are really good. Buy dreamcast!
