CDRWIN Harvest moon problems. Burner, Discs, hardware, or what???

I tried my first burn by first downloading CDRWIN free trial and PPF-omatic. Then copied the disc to harddrive, downloaded the patch, applied the patch(said was successful) burnt cue image back to disc and when I put it in my Playstation 2 it says there is no data on the disc. Please let me know what I am doing wrong. Trying to burn it onto a Maxell CD-rw and I have a Sony CRX 140E burner. Do I need a modchip installed or do the patches bypass that.
