Before I ask the question, I just wanted to thank you both for answering my previous questions. Actually, I need your opinion on something. I thinking of also buying a new CD burner. I noticed on both of your signatures that you both have the Yamaha 2100 series. I'm thinking of either purchasing the Yamaha 16x10x40, Yamaha 20x10x40, or the new Yamaha 24x10x40. Which one do you recommend? I don't know if there's a difference between them besides the speed, but I thought I would ask.
Thanks again,
LLChillin

we both bought our2100 along time ago
very reliable 16x
they say 2200 is as reliable plus buff under run protection on it 20x
not sure about next1
but 16 or 20 i only use 8x plenty fast enough
only thing they dont do is write correct ecm channel (certain pc games this)
but clone cd an bread/write has option built in to correct this
i love my 2100
i just bought new pc with dvdwriter
i will buy external 2100 or 2200 for new pc
keep this one in old pc as this is eide same my dvdwriter
Yes - I agree with Dust2Dust. A Yamaha 2200 is now cheaper than it was 6 months ago and it does everything and is copmpatible with everything. The 3200 commands a premium price and doesn't do much more - certainly not so far as PS2 is concerned.
One difference, I recommend that you put the device on a SCSI bus (needs SCSI card). That keeps your system IDE bus free to take a DVR on the secondary IDE channel with your existing CD reader.

I guess I'll get the Yamaha 20x10x40. I can get it for $112 with taxes. Thanks again.
