HELP! FMVs are skipping

ok i have downloaded disc 1 of ffix and tried to burn it onto a disc, was sucessful, but however, the FMVs skip like a little schoolgirl. Now here is how I burn them:
I extracted the 26 files using WinRAR and got a BIN and CUE file. I then used CDRWin 3.8b to burn it onto a disc at MAX speed (4x). The disc I used was from my 50-pack of Samsung 650Mb 12X speed CDRs with a goldish bottom.

Now, it skipped so I tried it again the same way burning at 2X speed instead and it still skips.

Some more information: I have a plug-mod, not a mod chip. My PSX is model 5501 and i tried the trick of laying it upside down, which only made the game freeze completely.

What can I do to fix this?

It sounds as if you have one of the CDRWin settings wrong.

Sounds to me, judging on your model, that your Playstation is just about worn out.
The slides your laser runs on are probably worn.
Place it on its side and see if it works any better.
