# MultiMedia Compressor (MMC)
**MultiMedia Compressor** is a new CLS filter designed for use with **FA (FreeArc) or Archiver**.
By default, MMC uses the following media codecs and compressors:
- WavPack
- PackJPG
- Brunsli
- OggPre
- PackMP3
Enjoy!
## How to Use MMC Effectively
MMC is based on a stripped-down version of the **Precomp branch**, focused exclusively on media compression.
Use the following commands to select the appropriate encoder:
### Audio Encoding
- `mmc:cwavpack` — Encode WAV audio using WavPack.
- `mmc:cflac` — Encode WAV audio using FLAC.
- `mmc:cpackmp3` — Encode MP3 audio using PackMP3.
- `mmc:coggpre` — Encode OGG/Opus audio using OggPre.
### Image Encoding
- `mmc:cpackjpg` — Encode JPEG images using PackJPG.
- `mmc:cbrunsli` — Encode JPEG images using Brunsli.
### Configuration Options
You can customize the block size and number of threads by adding the following options:
- **Block size:** Use `:b128mb` to set the block size to 128 MB.
- **Thread count:** Use `:t4` or `:t12` to specify 4 or 12 threads, respectively.
General Example: mmc:cpackmp3:cbrunsli:coggpre:cwavpack:b128mb:t12
Quick, tested from FreeArc 0.67, still "hopefully" works. (Win7 x64) This DLL file patched from XP, compression ok, decompress not.
Extra arguments, switches don't need from compression? Single OGG file packing in greatly, multiple files, dont get good ratios, less than 1% size reduction. WAV files compression, very fast avg. 25-30MB/s speed! OGG compression, insanely slow 50kB/s! (1.ogg file need 128 sec from compression and ~32 sec from decompression.)

Unfortunately, i just saw that i forgot to pop the arguments. i will be updating this soon and all arguments will be there for you :)

i was recently given some sample, someone wanted me to check for him
There you go
If my calculations are correct, this results in a compressed size of ~1883 MB. But wait! I just noticed that MMC is also present at the beginning of the compression chain. Does this mean there is no compression at all without it? (Despite the `cwavpack` switch.)
What happens if you unpack the contents of the WIM archive and compress that instead—with or without deduplication? In theory, it could be compressed down to around 1.25 GB using older FreeArc techniques. (Just to point out where this tool could potentially be further improved.)

Let me get, into details, to help you guys understand how this works.
In order for precompression to work on files several critical steps have to happen first for example.
Wavpack, Flac, Packmp3 and so on aren't meant to run on top of deduplicated data. or compressed data.
MMC scans the input for complete file, reading and deciphering the header while it understand how the mp3,wav,jpg was packed. it applies the compression on the buffer,
the buffer is the file from start to finish, as if you had it locally on your drive and applying packmp3.exe for example, only in a streamlined manner and in multithreading with scanning on.
this is the difference but the usual work happens in this way.
If you go in and apply deduplication or compression before you apply MMC you break the data which each filter will try to understand and perform the compression.
this is true for all precompression not only MMC, if you go in and srep a zlib file you cannot then expect precompression to be bale to precompressed the deflated stream.
PLZ understand basics before posting stuff
Directly compress the WAV files. Results larger, without deduping. (Compared from WIM-archive.) Try it need extra "b256mb" (or any size) switches from get better results?? Another member, tested privately in new compressor, getting in same results compared then, my msc+srep+lolz compression chains and avg. 100+ MB/s speeds!
