View Full Version : Testing chamber
Here I will share files/tools/kits for testing purposes from time to time. Mainly affects language removal.
Why? Simply because I have no time to play the games and test them after languages are removed.
Who? To users who actually play the games and want to contribute something in return instead of just making repacks and share them and/or sell them under the table on markets.
How? Follow the steps which I will describe in corresponding posts here in this topic.
What? Supported games should contain untouched game files. This means: no repacks of any sorts which already removed for example language files out of game files (like FG single-language repack).
The goal here is mainly to add more examples to DSG database over time.
Tests I share here will always make backups of affected game files, so if anything just don't work, you can simply copy backup files back so you have original untouched files again.
You have something to test aswell? Maybe you have similar goals as mine? Fine, you can share it here if you want.
All of the tests should be either done on a HDD or RAM-Drive. Don't do them on your SSD simply because of potential heavy write operations.
Until Dawn

Test the game with only one selected language.
Only sound files are affected (they are mostly located inside PAK file).
Video files are not touched in this test. You can remove them manually.
Included is a .md5 file for game version 05.10.2024 which just checks the correct checksum of "Bates-Windows.pak" file. You can make your own checksum file if you want.
How:
Extract contents of untildawn.7z into "Windows\Bates\Content\Paks" folder
Run "_1.bat"
Backup will be made automatically if it does not exist. Backup file is "Bates-Windows.backup".
If anything goes wrong, simply rename the file extension ".backup" to ".pak", then you have original untouched file.
Wait for extracting the game file, then select the audio language you want to use.
If the whole process is done, play the game.
If everything is going well and the game is working like it should (don't mind the overall performance problems of current games state), then this test is done.
Notes:
Purpose of "_2.bat" is just to decode "Bates-Windows.pak" back into it's original state.
This test does not encode any of the sound files, so compressing the game does not decrase nor increase the output (it should'nt).
Keep in mind that with altered "Bates-Windows.pak" file any patch for this game will not work because of wrong checksum of this file. For this purpose you have the backup file.

Frostpunk 2
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1601580/Frostpunk_2/
Test the game with only one selected language.
Only sound files are affected (they are mostly located inside PAK file).
How:
Extract contents of frostpunk2.7z into "Frostpunk2\Content\Paks" folder
Run "_1.bat"
Backup will be made automatically if it does not exist. Backup file is "pakchunk0-Windows.backup".
If anything goes wrong, simply rename the file extension ".backup" to ".pak", then you have original untouched file.
Wait for extracting the game file, then select the audio language you want to use.
If the whole process is done, play the game.
If everything is going well and the game is working like it should, then this test is done.
Notes:
This test does not encode any of the sound files, but since it is zeroing some data, you will archive better compression ratio.
Keep in mind that with altered "pakchunk0-Windows.pak" file any patch for this game will not work because of wrong checksum of this file. For this purpose you have the backup file.
DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO

Make sure the path doesn't contain special charakters like "!".
Test the game with only one selected language.
Test the game with only one selected video resolution.
How:
Extract contents of dbsparkingzero.7z into "SparkingZERO\Content\Paks" folder
Run "_1.bat"
Backup will be made automatically if it does not exist. Backup file is "pakchunk0-Windows.backup".
If anything goes wrong, simply rename the file extension ".backup" to ".pak", then you have original untouched file.
Wait for extracting the game file, then select the audio language and video resolution you want to use.
If the whole process is done, play the game.
If everything is going well and the game is working like it should, then this test is done.
Notes:
This test does not encode any of the sound nor video files, but since it is zeroing some data, you will archive better compression ratio.
Keep in mind that with altered "pakchunk0-Windows.pak" file any patch for this game will not work because of wrong checksum of this file. For this purpose you have the backup file.

Hello, I am doing Frostpunk 2 as you taught, the traditional language program is still available, I can not disable it
What do you mean exactly?
