Regards the patch found here:

Despite the fact the patch does work, there is an annoying error telling you that the 'CD' cannot be found before the game will start.
How to fix:
Edit the CRACKME.REG file as indicated below.
Replace "Path"=".\\" with "Path"=".\\STRATEGO"
Reboot after merging.
The error is gone.
