hello everyone
This is the best method to compress wave files to lowest size using OggEncoder.

Help
Put your wave files which you want to compress in DATA folder.
Then to compress launch wavecomp.exe and wait for compression to get completed.

I am sorry I mistakenly posted this thread here. It should be in Conversion Tutorials.

Since when encoding with OGG became "without losing quality of audio"?

Since when encoding with OGG became "without losing quality of audio"?

According to me human eyes can only differentiate upto 60fps so running a program above 60fps is meaningless and the same type of thing goes with the quality of sound. I use Ogg encoder to compress songs and save my disk space and while listening songs I don't feel any quality change.
And encoding, decoding don't change the frequency of sound it will always remain in 20-20000HZ range and the slight quality change can not be recognized by human ear.
so saying that ogg encoding will decrease the quality of audio is meaningless to humans. It is meaningful to only machines.

I think the point FitGirl is making is that no matter how the audio sounds to the listner, a true lossless tool will create a file when decoding exactly like the file that was encoded. A 1:1 copy with no difference whatsoever.

I know that ogg Vorbis is a lossy audio compression format, but for compression it just removes the frequency's that does not lie in (20-20000)HZ range so encoding will not result in any change in perceived sound quality.

There is no difference if you encode a 128kbps sound file to 96 kbps ogg vorbis
It is only measurable at higher difference in kbps.

and a 128 Kbps ogg vorbis will sound better than any other 128kbps audio codecs

and talking about file size, after decoding it would be 1:1 of original file.

that's why I said "without loosing sound quality" and it doesn't mean that it will do Lossless Compression.

For lossy audio ,Opus and xHE-AAC is better than OGG Vorbis.
Btw Opus creates interesting distortions in some very rare case.

You're wrong. Many blind tests show that tons of people can hear the difference of 96, 128, 192, 256 etc bitrates on many codecs. Only Opus is better than heavly outdated OGG Vorbis. If your hardware/ears are not good enough to hear the difference - it doesn't make the output the exact as it was before.

Yes, Opus is a better audio format but no one uses this codec.

I am saying that a 96 bitrate ogg vorbis sounds better than 128 bitrate mp3.
I am not comparing a 128kb bitrate mp3 to 96 bitrate mp3.

and talking about outdated, wav was first time realeased in 1991, mp3 in 1995, and org vorbis in 2002
opus is released in 2012 but the main problem with opus is it does not support album art. so I still use mp3 instead of opus.

OPUS supports album art.
At least with poiko's EZCD-A converter.
I personally use Neutron player on android and it shows fine. (Edit:all modern players on android support AA)

Sorry for the offtopic.

Wav Compressor using opus:

This sample taken from very old times, sourced the ripped games. Use the scene MP3 compression from WAV-files.

Link: https://ulozto.net/file/e1EkE6NrVQKO/myth-wav-unpack-sample-rar

1. Unpack and run bat file and wait.

Note: The, original 'myth.pak' file already compressed via MPZ Slimmer. (MSC compression bigger than 1MB's.) Overkill lossy/lossless compression. Unpacked 57.6MB's WAV files. FreeArc no compress than lower 45MB size.

Really like made external launcher (aka MPZ Slimmer formula) from compressing WAV files put to one PAK archive, use *.ACM codec files. The 'myth.acm' file its renamed Fraunhofer MP3 ACM file from located in originally any Win OS system32 folder.

The MP3 PRO codec use supporting lossless WAV compression. Compression rate better than modern ones? (TTA/TAK/FLAC)
