View Full Version : Original Games don't work?
I don't know what sort of chip I have but all I know is I rented Crash Banicoot and I can't get it to work....the chip is internal and I use Memory Manager Plus to play backup games, it's an NTSC PS2, but I live in australia and Crash is PAL, it plays PAL backups fine, is there something I can do, or am I just never gonna be able to play original games???!!!???!!! Please Help!
You need Origachip or MESSIAH to play import originals. If you use CloneCD to copy the game, it might work as a backup with your modchip.
I burnt crash and it works fine using CDRwin. I have now hired PAL, GTA3 and Dark Cloud, they are both DVD's! I don't have a DVD drive, only a normal burner, is there any sort of boot disk downloadable that will let me play PAL orignals on my NTSC PS2. I'm not sure what chip I have any help?! It's really annoying coz I live in australia with an NTSC sony!
By the way, when I try booting them using a boot disk they don't work, but a copied version of crash worked, whats the differance???
Also....this is how my chip works....you put backup PS1 games in, NTSC or PAL, they work with out any boot disk, PS2 games you use a boot disk called Memory Manager Plus, for it too work you have to hold them power button in till the Playstation 2 sign comes up, if you don't hold it in it comes up with a scrambled PS1 screen....is it possible to get your chip upgraded or not?

ANSWER: The modchip is designed to boot backups after you have done a legal boot (like with GS2 or DVDRX or MM+ or an NTSC original game). SO it won't boot import originals by this method.

ANSWER: YES. This is what I did. I live in the UK and have an NTSC PS2. I play PAL originals in my PS2 now because I installed the OrigaChip ( ####://www.origachip.com ). You can make backups of DVD games with a Pioneer DVR A03 burning DVD=Rs with PrimoDVD.
Thankyou, you've helped alot, I think i'll wait for a chip that will do everything easily, which is (from what I've read) messiah, when that comes out in Australia I'll go for it...
