Slow PC??

Hi all,
I had this problem for more than 3 months and I think that u can solve it for me, here's the problem : when I put any CD or DVD in my DVD driver, and install or copy something from it my PC becomes too SLOW!!
I have Windows XP SP2, Celeron(R) D CPU 3.07 GHz, 3.00 GB of RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT (512 M.B)

If your mainboard has an intel chipset then install Intel "Chipset Software Installation Utility" which you can download from intel.com: http://downloadcenter.intel.com

These drivers also update the IDE/SATA driver which most liley malfunctions, else it could be a hardware related problem then try to connect the drive to a different IDE or SATA port

For a VIA chipset there are similar drivers available

okies check the device in windows. check if the drive is running in pio mode.. it should be in dma mode in most cases, because using pio mode can be slower and can eat a lot of cpu cycles compared to dma mode..

This file should reset the UDMA settings for the primary/secondary master/slave IDE channels. Reboot after adding it to the registry.

what is the file that I should add them to? and where can i find it?

I found the registry and I made a notepad file.reg and I imported it and it worked. Thank u all for your help, I really don't know much about these things :P

sweet, happy it worked, the main thing you need to find out is WHY your drive changed from DMA to PIO

well, if you didn't do it (which i suspect you didn't), i would guess some software installation did it, or maybe starting windows in safe mode did it (though, this shouldn't happen), or maybe you installed some updated chipset drivers...

still, now you know what to check, so its all good

I have new computer according to me it have configuration:
Intel core to duo 180 Gh
4 GB RAM
Wire less optical keyboard and Mouse
230 GB Hard disk
1 GB Graphics Card
DVD writer combo drive...
but there is problem in speed why its happened please suggest me.
