Armed Assault 2 (DVD9->2xDVD5)

Tutorial for the German Version of this game:
MULTI 4 or CZECH Conversion

1. Create two folders:
- 1. ARMA2_1
- 2. ARMA2_2

2. download the attachment

3. copy the dvd9 content to ARMA2_1 folder

4. extract the setup files of attachment to ARMA2_1 folder and overwrite everything....

5. Copy all files (ARMA2_1 -> ARMA2_2) WITHOUT the folder "ARMA2\Addons" to ARMA2_2

6. Now delete only in folder "ARMA2_1" the file "setup2-1.bin", dont delete "setup2.exe"

7. Move those files from "ARMA2_1\ARMA2\addons" to "ARMA2_2\ARMA2\addons"
Code:
a10.pbo
air.pbo
Air3.pbo
animals.pbo
animals2.pbo
buildings2_Ind_CementWorks.pbo
Ca.pbo
characters2.pbo
chernarus_Data.pbo
chernarus_Data_Layers.pbo
editor.pbo
language.pbo
languagemissions.pbo
misc.pbo
misc2.pbo
misc3.pbo
missions.pbo
modules.pbo
music.pbo
plants2_Bush.pbo
plants2_Clutter.pbo
plants2_misc.pbo
plants2_Plant.pbo
plants2_Tree.pbo
Roads2.pbo
rocks2.pbo
signs2.pbo
soundmissions.pbo
tracked.pbo
tracked2.pbo
ui.pbo
UIFonts.pbo
warfare2.pbo
water.pbo
water2.pbo
weapons2.pbo
wheeled2.pbo
wheeled3.pbo
8. put the "fake files" from attachment to the folder "ARMA2_1\ARMA2\Addons"

9. Edit the Autorun.inf in the folder "ARMA2_2" like this:

Code:
[autorun]
open=0
icon=data\arma2.ico
10. Burn the contents of the folder ARMA2_1 and ARMA2_2

Volume Label by me:
DVD1 = ARMA2_1
DVD2 = ARMA2_2

Important!!!
To install the game run Autorun.exe or Install.exe
DONT USE Setup.exe!!!!
Attached Files
File Type: rar arma2dvd2.rar (881.2 KB, 1591 views)

Was the autorun.inf changed? any other file modified not stated above ?

When clicking on the install.exe from the install folder.. this error.
i think you made a lil mistake.....
your install.exe is for DVD2.....

Well according to your rcd listing for DVD1 the install folder HAS just an install.exe WITH the dvd1.exe file. Also, according to your RCD listing the DATA Dir is MISSING 1 file insert_dvd.bmp.

So just wondering IF your uploaded file for arma2.rar was missing a couple of files?

Have AGAIN gone thru your instructions, double checked the files according to the RCD listing, AND every file checks out EXCEPT for what I have noted above. AND it ONLY installs the 0 byte files, NEVER gets to EITHER of the DVD1 or DVD2 recompressed files that were created in your conversion process.

Thanks for taking the time to reply & help us out to fix this.

oh man now i see what i forgoted....
the picture was not important, but the loader for DVD1 is not there......
to all, who dont want to follow the installer again, here:
copy from the attachment in the first post
arma2.rar/ARMA/Install/install.exe -> ARMA2_1/ARMA/Install/install.exe
arma2.rar/ARMA/Install/install2.exe -> ARMA2_2/ARMA/Install/install2.exe

for the ones who want to use the picture in disk change here:
arma2.rar/ARMA/Data/insert_dvd.bmp -> arma2_1/ARMA/Data/insert_dvd.bmp
arma2.rar/ARMA/Data/insert_dvd.bmp -> arma2_2/ARMA/Data/insert_dvd.bmp

for users, who want to make the disk after 06.06.09 this is no more important for you....

i am reaaalllllyy sooooorrry....

Even with the proper exe for dvd1 the process for dvd1.exe never starts. During the install process it does ask for dvd2 but soon quits after that. The process for dvd2.exe never starts as well. The whole install for the game only installs 27.4mb of the game.

Also with all of added stuff from your install folder added to the games original install process your modified file install process never gets a chance to start.

same as your steps 6 & 10

6. then rename the created file "addons.exe" to "DVD1.exe"
10. then rename the created file "addons.exe" to "DVD2.exe"

I have both my RCD files in the archive. Now the strange part.

Your dvd1.rcd = 4347430072
My dvd1.rcd = 4324034260
-----------
-23395812

Your dvd2.rcd = 3248092148
My dvd2.rcd = 3224965159
------------
-23123989

Mine are both smaller by ~23Mb Yet the files/ sizes seem to check out

that works OK!

Looks like it'll have to be Install Sequence DVD1-DVD2 ( get zero byte files installed ) THEN back to DVD1 to run the install.exe to extract the proper addons folders files. Continue to DVD2 run install2 to get the rest of the files installed.

So FULL Install Sequence DVD1-DVD2-DVD1-DVD2. not bad..

EDIT: Looks like a few files did not extract back after running the install.exe for DVD1.exe. I have 10 files that have 0 bytes.

EDIT2: Looking back thru initial list there are NO files with those names to begin with.

no no no!!!!
it should be not like that......
the installer should start automaticly....
can you test now Installer1.exe ????
i think there is the failure......

those should be in archive too.....
filenames "a10.pbo - modules.pbo.bi.bisign DVD1.exe
filenames music.pbo - wheeled3.pbo.bi.bisign DVD2.exe
but your files are not in my archive too....
so no needed....
