I just want to know how to mount .mir files from Mini-Image Ripper. Neither Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools supports it. Is there supposed to be a plugin?

.mir images have been created by cutting off the first few sectors of another, full image. If you know what type the original image was, you'll know the type of the .mir image, as well.
Isn't it an .mdf image? Put besides it the original .mds file, thus getting an Alcohol 120%-style image, and then you'll be able to mount it. (Have you read Mini Image Ripper's docs?)

But if the full image and the .mir exist in the same directory, Alcohol will only read the full image, not the .mir. Should I move the .mir file somewhere else?

The .mir is the first few megabytes of the .mdf file. So, remove the big .mdf, keep the .mds and rename the .mir to .mdf. At least, I think this is how to do it...

I've tried, but Alcohol 120% doesn't read the.mir file. Should I rename the extension of the.mir file?

Yes, as I wrote, rename it to .mdf: .mds and .mdf files come in pairs as Alcohol 120%-style CD/DVD images.

Alcohol gives an error, stating it's an invalid image file!

By the way, after having read MiR's documentation, I'm not sure if it is supposed to work (properly) Alcohol 120%-style images (MDS+MDF), rather only with CloneCD-style (CCD+IMG+SUB) ones...!

I haven't got time right now to check if it works with mdf/mds too (I tended to use the clonecd format, I think), but all the times I used A120% to mount a .mir file in the past I simply changed filetype to "all files" in the A120% open image dialog so I could select the .mir file, and it worked perfectly. Try opening it this way instead of messing around with renaming.

Ok, I've converted my image file. But the blasted SecurROM keeps preventing me from playing. I've used Prot Stop, SecureROM Loader but it still doesn't work!

Works with Daemon as well.
Just choose "All Files" (*.*), and mount the now available .mir file... Worked fine for me, except for the fact that the image itself was crappy

Um, MIR only works for safedisk AFAIK. You can make a mini image for Securom, but it would be mini only in the sense that you'd zero out any data not required for the copy protection so you'd get a file of the same size, but which can be easily compressed down to a few megabytes. MIR was written for Safedisk protection...
Maybe you'd better tell us which game you're trying to make a mini image for... |

Hi
dude you can use daemon tools to mount a .mir file. just use the daemon tools pro (or free version) agent and mount image. when the thing comes up click the drop down for "files of all types" and click "all files" then you should be able to mount a .mir, it worked for me!

@Aznboy1993
Did you check the dates of the previous posts above yours? I would of thought (or hope) the original poster would have sorted his problem after nearly 2 years! But thanks all the same for you reply.
