Hi Kid - perhaps you could try this (asssuming you have the 5 wire Neokey modchip):

1/
Download (from that crazy site) GS 1.9 and burn it. Or buy a GS 1.9

2/
Boot the GS2 1.7 and use it to boot the just burned GS 1.9
There's some messing around to do with holding down the reset button when you first press it to boot GS 1.7 all the way through to step 7 below.

3/
When/if GS 1.9 is loaded, select Start Game

4/
Press EJECT (you are still holding REST down) and put the Original DVD with larger TOC into the tray.

5/
Close the tray (Press EEJCT to do this).

6/
After 10 seconds or so select WITHOUT CODES and wait until the disk stops.

7/
Release the REST button and this should pop the tray out. Remove the original DVD and place the DVD-R into the tray. Now I'm not sure whether the tray stays out till you press EJECT or whether you have just 3 seconds to make the swap! But, according to the description I read on this method, you must press X on your controller just as the tray goes back in. The game might then boot.

It's a shame that you're having this trouble. An internal modchip (like NEO2.2) would have simplified matters, perhaps. I'm not at all sure about GS 1.7. Other posts on other forums say GS 1.9, that is the basis of my advoice above. If GS 1.7 is OK, then the above boot method from step 2 is supposed to work.
