1) Extract 'Dead_Space_2_2xDVD5.7z' contents

2) Launch FreeArc & compress the following original files (use custom SFX Module freearc_SFX.7z):

DS2DAT6.DAT
DS2DAT7.DAT

Output archive: DS2_arc
Compression: -mx -ld800m
Make exe: Windows GUI: freearc.sfx checked

3) Create the contents of DVDs, as shown in the images below:

4) Edit 'localization.ini' in 'support' folder under [LOCALES] label,
put a space character to front every row of foreign languages entries

5) Burn or make ISOs with label names as temp folders

I can't remember what software used to edit .dat file? can u give me the link to download. I want to edit for my Multi2 version (Eng, Fr), or can u upload it here, it only has 6 DSDAT*.DAT from 0-6. I recompress DSDAT2.DAT & DSDAT3.DAT with FreeArc

to edit the *.dat files you have to use Orca.

Peter, I have the EN/FR version w/ DS2DAT's that go from 0 to 5. Which ones can I leave out for an EN only install, in other words, do you know which .DAT files are ONLY needed for the FR language?

What rastan76 said was correct, you have to "overwrite" the default freearc sfx module with peterf's custom one, that's what he means by "using" his module. Remeber to back up your original module to revert the changes once the converstion is finished ;)

I've a multi3 version, it-eng-esp. The whole iso ripped is about 10,1gb while the .dat files are from 0 to 5.
Can i split the whole dvd9 into 2xdvd5? If yes, how? :confused:

The MSI database is multi 2 (ITA-SPA) not multi 3, although the movies folder 'en' (moviesEnFinger component)
contains one english video 'ealogo.vp6'.
Indeed the database contains only two mst (es.mst, it.mst) ;)

peterf1999, i see that many time you use -ld800m for decompress Arc archive.
i have 5gb of ram, if i use -ld50% or -ld75% for use more ram, the extraction is more fast? the extracted files may become corrupted?

Just because you have more memory, doesnt really make the extraction faster, it all depends on what was used when the archive was created.

BECAUSE THE PATH is /movies/en --> the en will be whatever language you chose to use! be it EN/FR/ AND
the conversion posted by napalmguy is for the multi2 version only.. doesnt work with the multi6

you have to move the ealogo.vp6 file to the movies folder in the second dvd. all I did was organizing the dvd a little bit so all the video files are in the second disc in "movies\en" folder

btw i think if i'm not mistaken that u tried the conversion from ur hard drive not from mounted iso or burnt backup, or else why would it ask for source folder "D:\movies":eek::eek:

I've donde everything of the Peter's post, but I still have some troubles.
I want the same of Your version Peter (Spa-Ita conversion), but I've got an error when it ask me for the "5.dat" files. It may ask me for the second DvD where is here, but I saw an error message. And I've already overwrite the "Autorun.dat" file ...
Can You help me please ? Why I have this error ?

The installer didn't find the DS2DAT5.DAT, cause the installer expects to find it in a logical unit (DS2_2 Disc).
Make the isos for testing, don't install from temp folders!

The autorun is not untouched, was bad edited

On dvd2 the following files:

DS2DAT3.DAT -> Dummy
DS2DAT5.DAT

Game.ico

DS2_arc.exe contains -> DS2DAT3.DAT, DS2DAT2.DAT

The labels are 'Disc1' and 'Disc2'

Can somebody help me? I try to make napalmguy's conversion with some changes:
-Have one more dat file(DS2DAT6.DAT)
-I want to put the movies directory on the first dvd, but after editing the autorun.dat file it always want the another dvd, finally, it dosent install the game.
What must i modify in the autorun.dat, so i can make the conversion?

napalmguy's is foe english only. Look at post #1 to see what lang corresponds with dat6 file. the movies belong to dvd1 so leave them there, its coded in the autorun.dat file where they are. AND too much work to change all locations to dvd2. or just use peter's conversion as it already has the dat6 file in its autorun, just pick what language you want to use from the first post, as well as the correct freearc sfx file that you want to show up in the conversion. They are BOTH 2xdvd5 conversions.
