Thought y'all'd like to know that I successfully loaded a DVD-R of GT3 using Sky Oddessy as the boot disk.

No DVDRX, no AR2/GS2, no other form of pre-boot medium.

My configuration is different in that the OrigaChip v1.11 fitter left the old modchip.com chip in so that I could continue booting with the Utility Disk. So I've some experiments to do with the spare SCPH 15000 which still has the modchip, com chip in alone to see if that was the functionary or whether OrigaChip was doing the business or both!

I've not read of any JAP PS2 owner with OrigaChip being able to boot DVD-Rs so good news for you I hope.

Well it looks like the original 8 wire modchip.com beta modchip is the little treasure enabling DVD-R backups to be booted.

Jumpstart - are you reading this? GT3 can be copied and booted at last! The wonder of the OrigaChip in these circumstances is that you don't need a JAp DVD original with which to supply the large TOC. That can be done with an import.

Now here's a suggestion for Datel: make a DVD-Backup-Boot "game" with the max TOC and blank stuff on it to enable legitimate backups to be booted.
