Hi - I was a member of this site under another name a long time ago, but I've since forgotten my email and name - anyways - recently my playstation 2 drive has basically died - I have a matrix infinity chip in the system, and have been thinking about getting a new playstation and maybe seeing if I could do anything with that chip. I was wondering if anyone knows how hard it is to remove an already installed modchip - if it's something that can be done pretty easily, etc. I figure a benefit I can maybe receive from removing the chip is that I would get experience in opening up the PS2, and I would see where everything is soldered, etc. I've been thinking about getting a refurbished ps2, which doesn't run for much. And also, for any who might think my ps2 can be salvaged, I'm pretty sure it's dead - won't run any games. Anyways, thanks for any tips or suggestions on what should be done.
