Hi,

i bought today Faces of war. it's already patched to v1.04.1 and runswithout any probs. But after installing the latest patch v1.0.4.1a i got this message:

Falsche Disk eingelegt.

Bitte legen Sie die originale "Faces of War" CD/DVD in ein Laufwerk.
Weitere, detaillierte Informationen entnehmen Sie bitte http://www.securom.com/message.asp?m=wrongdisc&l=ge.

i try to translate that! means something like:

Please insert the original disc instead of a backup. See www.securom.com/copy for more details.

Can it be that somewhere on my PC or in the registry is some data left about older games and exes that bypassed securom succesfully before?

Can someone explain me or give me some advice how to get that ORIGINAL game working!

erm, if you installed the patch, the exe most likely got updated..
so you can either look for a crack for that patch, or try using a mini image

think the translation is like

"please insert the original faces of war cd/dvd in the drive,
for more detailed information please look at <url>"

im assuming you've tried puting the original disk in? were you using a crack before? (or a mini / maxi image)

also, it might be an idea to scan the installation folder with protection id so we know the exact version of securom we will be dealing with... more information helps

if it truly is the case that you have the original disk present in the drive (and no mini/maxi/full images mounted in any virtual drives) then you're probably better off contacting securom support to see if they can shed some light on the problem

it could be that you installed a patch for a different region than the one you have on the disk, each disk has a project id on it, if the exe doesn't match the project id on the disk then you get that message... so such a thing could happen if you (for example) installed a uk version of the patch, but your disk is the german release (in which case you'd really need to install the german version of the patch if there is one)... that's what i suspect could be the case here...

thx for ur reply

First to say i have really bought the game. after i downloaded it and it didn't work with the latest patch i decided to buy this one.
I have the germen version from Faces of War, and i installed this
patch: faces_of_war_1.04.1a_en_fr_it_sp_de.exe
there isn't any single german patch.

I tried to install this file: "faces_of_war_1.04.1_de.exe" before installing the latest patch

Then there comes a message that the patch is already installed and if i would really like to continue with setup. i cklicked ok, then there comes another message that the game isn't installed on my computer. Don't know why that message appears. The game is listed in my Software overview, too.

Forgot to say that there is no nocd-patch for the "faces_of_war_1.04.1a_en_fr_it_sp_de.exe" patch.

I never used a mini image for espiaccially this game before. I ever used only the nocd fixes. but maybe i used for another game. But i donT know anymore which.
i checked the registry, and i got many Serom entries listed at my Virtual Drives. for example f:\Razor1911
i disabled any Virtual drive. but without any success

Here is the report from protection ID:

ProtectionID Protection Report (txt format)

05:49:14 | C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Faces of War\facesofwar.exe | SecuROM Detected - Version 07.30.0014

Edit:

Here are the Search results from the registry as a .jpg pic.
i searched all entries for: "Securom"

hmm honest advice would be to make the analysis file thing (right click exe, select 'launch analysis') and send the sr0 file (think its called analysislog.sr0.. but i may be wrong, to the securom support site.. that version of securom is quite old (think its 7.39 now.. maybe higher), so there could be a fix for it.. either way ,you're a legitimate user, and owner of the software, so you have nothing to risk contacting them for assistance..

registry picture also looks quite typical... looks to me like the project id's don't match up somehow, honest advice would be to send the sr0 file to securom support, and get a fix from them... i've done this twice myself (for 2 different pc's), and had a solution from them in 2 days..

i don't know what stands in the Launch analysis log. Did you had some nocd-fixes or cracks on your PC installed as you sended them your Log. I don't want to get into trouble, cause i have many downloaded stuff on my PC. What do you think will that be riskless?

Intentionally submitting information not directly related to the problem would be theft of personal data. I don't think SecuROM would do that as they would risk running headlong into a wall of lawyers. ;)

yupp, would have to agree there the sr0 just tells them what went wrong, where... if there was personal data in it, i would be very surprised as it would be a legal ticking time bomb, and it says so when you run the launch analysis...

This test program has been developed with your personal interest in mind to check for possible hardware and/or software incompatibility on your PC. To shorten the analysis time, system information is collected (similar to Microsoft's msinfo32.exe program).
Data will be compared with our knowledge base to discover possible hardware/software conflicts. Submitting the log file is totally voluntary. The collected data is for evaluation purposes only and is not used in any other manner.

Your Support Team

the last portion 'not used in any other matter'.. would seal it for me

im pretty sure its something to do with the project id not matching the disk, which they could only help you with...

checked a bit further

http://www.securom.com/message.asp?m=analysis

"Please be informed the SecuROM™ analysis file does not contain any personal information"

publically posted.. they would be dumb to do anything to contradict those posts.. you're a legitimate user of the game... you're contacting them for help.. you're fine...

Many downloaded stuff?

goes to the TB value. Why?

I think i contact support. You're right I don't think that they risk their legal status
