View Full Version : Cannot download?!?!?
Hi guys,
Big up for the site! Been very helpful over the years! :)
I have recently run into a problem and have searched the forums, but I can't find anything.
Might just be me, but I cannot seam to download any new files lately?!?!?
It doesn't matter which server I use, but when I click on the file to get it, it just ends up being a 0KB file?!?!?
Even if I try to open the file directly, it tells me the file is corrupt?!?!?
I have tried this on a few different PC's but get the same thing.
I have also tried using MS Explorer and Firefox, but still no luck.
Please help...
That is quite strange, I am guessing the other PC's are sharing the same Internet Connection. If so it could be either...
1. If you have a router it could be blocking data from a specific IP range. You could check this by trying another site and see if downloads are fine there.
2. Or your ISP is blocking you from downloading from the mirrors.
3. Another possible is you have picked up something nasty which is screwing with your downloads, some virus's will do this to stop you from using online scanners etc to preserve itself.
Thanks for the reply...
Problem is, I have tried 4 different PC's at 2 different places...
1 is my laptop at home, 2nd is my home PC, 3rd is my kids PC also at home and the 4th is my PC at work...
I will run a full virus scan again, but I am sure there are none...
I run regular spyware scans, so I know it is clean...
I have checked all router and browser settings and they are all fine...
I do remember reading about another user that had the same problem, but cannot find his post to see if and how it was resolved....
Oh, I have also tried multiple service providers, so not sure about that...
I can also download from all other sites, except this one...
Any other idea's?
The problem has been resolved (for now)
The 2 ip's you are/were using where blocked by our downloadscript as the are known "Spam Harvesters", but after some checking they also seems to be webcache/proxy-servers so most likely someone else is abusing it....
If the "SPAM Harvesters" continue to scan our sites then we will be forced to block them. Then just do not use the webcache/proxy-server (in IE or FF) and directly serve to GCW (as we will also be blocking the site itself in the near future)
If it is not possible to bypass the webcache/proxy-server then you should complain @ your ISP about the abuse going on on their servers
Your ISP is using a total of 8 webcache/proxy-servers in the same ip range which are all tagged to be "SPAM Harvesters"....
Thanks very much...
All working fine again... (For now!)
Please could you let me know which ISP's or IP's were blocked as I use 4 different ISP during the month.
If need be, please PM me with the details so I can check on them from my side to see what is happening...
Thanks a mil...
Oh, I also sent a mail to an admin about my mail address changes because my personal mail is also blocked for some reason???
I have never before registered on these forums so I don't understand how this is possible...
Let me know if you need more details about this.
Once again, thanks for the help. I have the files I need for now. :D
Do you have the direct links to the stuff you need to be downloaded with you?
Thanks Lope, but as I said, it is all sorted for now and I have what I need...
