can any body help me?

i can back up ps2 games if they have not got dvd-rom on them they work fine with a boot up disk . but when it comes to dvd-rom games im haveing big problems also a bad head!:(
i have a matshita dvd-rom SR-8585 Reader
I have a hp cd writer+9001b
Now before you say read up about it i have and it seems a bit long winded + i carnt find all the software :(
there must be an easy way to do it ive just found a site that sells books saying it can be done with out a dvd writer but i dont want to shell out i think its about $80 in the u.s,and then find out it carnt!i know i may seem a sad case but please take me on board.

Well Tonytubs, you've got to read the stuff. For each DVD game that's been ripped, there's usually a tutorial on the web written by the kind person who did the rip from DVD to CD-R. If you are ripping something other than what's been tutorialised, then no doubt you'll provide one when you're done!

By the way, the Hp 9100b is not really up to the job (I think I told you that before) but it'll do for at least 80% of the CD stuff.
