Greetings,

Thanks for a great web site and forum. Just wanted to mention the new updates and game releases from HPS games have new security features that the Universal NoCd Patcher doesn't cover. This was a great tool, and if the authors read this, thanks for a great product and I hope you can update it.

What protection(s) did the older releases/updates have and what do the new ones? Scan them with ProtectionID (see the PC Games forum FAQ). If the new protection(s) is/are much more complicated, a universal patcher won't help anymore.

Thanks, for replying. I'm have no skills in patching, but I believe it was a simple cd check. As all of the HPS games are set up the same way, one group produced the Universal Patcher, found on this site. An artist recently submited a patch for the Mexican_American War update, and in his .nfo he said it was still a simple cd check. What was great about the Universal Tool, it worked with all HPS games. The only thing new I found in the new releases and updates are the inclusion of Microsoft.VC.80.manifest and Microsoft.VC.80.MFC.manifest. These were not included in the previous releases that the Universal Patcher worked on.

it still is a simply cd-check only (editor is even unprotected) :D

the tools searches for a special byte sequence, the developers just changed it a bit wich results in the tool not working anymore...

Well, then a crack can be requested as described in entry III/4 of the PC Games forum FAQ. :)

Thanks men for replying. The Universal Patcher still works on the editor, not the game .exe. I've read some tutorials and some the ASM guides. Anyone who can do patching and fixing .exe's deserves a standing ovation. :)
