Extract Group18.cab and create new cab file using PowerArchiver 2007 with same name on high

compression. Replace the original cab file with the recompressed file.

Extract Group20.cab and create new cab file using PowerArchiver 2007 with same name on high

compression. Replace the original cab file with the recompressed file.

Extract Group21.cab and create new cab file using PowerArchiver 2007 with same name on high

compression. Replace the original cab file with the recompressed file.

Rename the nfs.exe file to nfs.exe.bak (for future update purposes) and copy the cracked exe

file from www.gamecopyworld.com into the root directory if you want the game to install

pre-patched

Burn all files to DVD5 or Image.
Total File Size after Recompression is 4.36 GB (4,683,692,309 bytes)

When I try to burn with Nero it defaults to 'My Disc' and when I try to type in the full name for the disk it doesn't allow me to enter much past Need for Speed...

Any suggestions on what I can do to get around this?

The volume name of the DVD must be "Disk 1" - this is the original volume name!

Compression = LZX (Maximum) Select the first cab & extract its contents to your desktop....Then right click over all the files & select "compress with options" then click CAB..The rest should be set properly....rename the desktop.cab to the correct filename & replace like it says...If you do this for all 3 files & then make sure you have no duplicate files in your NFS folder it will fit...

The only time you should get an error is when you dont choose UK for the install...Im guessing here but those 3 cabs arent used when installing english....Because if they were it would also error....Try to recompress any cab that is used in the english install & it will error as soon as it gets to the first cab file you have recompressed..

EDIT Group1 & group10 cabs are used in the english install & will error if you compress them...

Me i recompress the grup1 file and from 1.1gb it become 630mb.
Why do you tell that is not compress it in great percent?
For me works fine with a max compress.
Just recompress only the grup1 file and the game it can be put it to a single layer dvd.

for doing this i used the winace program

im the begining i had done with PowerArchiver 2007 but had erros during the instalation
with winace and only recompress the group1.cab i didn't get any problem in the instalation.

so try cause the image file size went down to 4.492.034.048 bytes

do them in order, start with 18 by right clicking on the file and choose, "extract to drive:\...", after it extracts, go into the folder
and press ctrl+a to select all the files in the folder and then right click on the first or any file of that folder while all files being selected and choose "compress with options" and select cab extention with LZX (Maximum) compression and just press add after that and it will make that file Group18.cab so you dont relly need to rename it

I tried with WinACE and it works. I compress all the big cab files and the image finally ends up at around 4.0GB with around 400MB to spare for patches in future.

For those like me who don't have the patience to wait for a solution, download my custom installer. It bypasses the EA_Setup.exe file that asks for the cd, and it works fine, just no eula's in the installer and it doesn't install help files.

Uneeded things you need to do to make sure it'll work. (result of playing with the MSI endlessly until it worked).

1. Copy the files from my RAR to the root folder.
2. Copy the files Need_for_Speed_ProStreet_code.exe and Need_for_Speed_ProStreet_uninst.exe from the 'Support' folder to the root folder.
3. While keeping those two files in the Support folder, make a copy of them (to the same folder [Support] and rename them to 'Need for Speed ProStreet_code.exe' and 'Need for Speed ProStreet_uninst.exe'.

*So, the root will have two files with a "_" between each word, and the Support folder will have four files, two like the ones in the root and two with 3 (of the 4) _'s replaced with spaces.

I tested it, but of course you should test it youself.

Here is solution for crc errors, cab recognizing problems and for people who don't wanna download shareware programs for compressing, winrar is enough for me. Tested WinAce and Powerarchiver (nice ribbon ui tho), both didn't make cabs so that all files were 100% matching with original. Seems to that big files with highest LZX compression get somehow changed little bit?

Well makecab didn't make too, tested couple times and it always was same file with mismatch. but atleast i could skip the one file that didn't and not compress it but still get it to the cab.

This compresses Group1.cab to 640mb making dvd size to 4,21gb with no cab opening problems with installer, files in cab matches 100% to original. Tested with original and making md5 from installed files and matching that to backup installed files. Compressed Cab keeps it original file structure too.

Download rar and extract it to same folder than Group1.cab, run compress-group1.bat
Takes 20-40mins to compress

new Group1.cab file after compression can be found Group1 folder with hash.md5 if you want to check files before making iso, extract compressed Group1.cab in that folder and check md5 with sfv/md5 program like hkSFV.
(Change affinity to only 1 core if using dual core and hkSFV, tends to close it self when handling long lists)

If you don't wanna installer open browser to ea reg page after install, then change in autorun.dat with orca -> tablets: custom action -> Action: SetLaunchOreg -> Target: 1 to 0

Make iso with imgburn (mode -> build) with Volumelabel ISO9660: NFSPROSTREET UDF: NFSPROSTREET

burned, tested, works. Start of the install was slow but that must be my dvd drive, group1.cab installs almost at end of install process

See if it works better than re-compressing with Winace or whatever!

Just extract group1.cab to a temp folder and copy CABARC.EXE into it and cut/paste the above text to a 'list.ini' file and copy that into the temp folder, open a DOS BOX in the temp folder and type: cabarc -m lzx:21 n group1.cab @list.ini

Wait a long time and then replace the old group1.cab with the newly created group1.cab, should fit a DVD5 now!

Its renamed as Autorun.dat on the disc, when you've copied all the files from the DVD just rename it to Autorun.msi and edit with Orca and save then rename it back to Autorun.dat.

My mistake :D little typo, was thinking something else and usually files are .msi when editing orca. No need to rename autorun.dat just try open and select orca from list of installed programs

Doesn't compressing just Group1.cab using the info I posted make it fit a DVD5?

It will but after compression, 6% of the files have mismatch in md5 hash.
Tested 2 times in Vista x64 with that list and list in my compression pack. Might be just 64bit problem. I did get fewer mismatches when using winxp 32bit

Makecab is safer because that is included in all windows in system32 folder.

and command -l"list.ini" is wrong it should be @list.ini or else cabarc will try insert filenamed -l"list.ini" in the cab

EDIT: by the way, if using 64bit OS delete makecab.exe if using my compression pack, it will then use 64bit makecab. I didn't know this earlier, when i had only winxp 32bit

Here is script for makecab, so no need to download anything, does same what i provided earlier, just make new txt file and copy/paste script there and save as Filename: compress.bat / Save as type: All files (*.*)
Put it to same folder with cab to be compressed.

If you want to compress like Group21.cab just change des=Group1 to des=Group21 in script or any cab you want.

People with dual core, if you are repacking several cabs, example: make two bat files one for Group20 and one for Group21 and run both, makecab.exe uses only 50% of your cpu power so its same to run two makecab instances.

Tested with nfsprostreet, repacked Group1, Group18, Group20, Group21 , File System: ISO9660 + UDF, LABEL: NFSPROSTREET and installed without problem in Vista x64.

Script can be used with any MSCab file and let me know if there is any problems.

NFS PROSTREET MULTI3 ENGLISH/SPANISH/RUSSIAN DVD9 TO 1 LANGUAGE DVD5

First check that you have right version, there should be SOUNDSPEECHPaspeechdat_sp_big in Group118.cab and SOUNDSPEECHPaspeechdat_ru_big in Group119.cab

1) Copy DVD to NFSPROSTREET folder
2) Download rar and extract to NFSPROSTREET folder, check readme
3) Run compress-group1.bat, makes md5 hash file too so you can check compressed files for any mismatch (mismatched files might interfere with booster pack update so it might not update those files)
4) Run compress-group111.bat and compress-group11x_&_11x.bat
5) Move compressed cabs from Group folders to NFSPROSTREETFOLDER
6) Delete .bat files, readme.txt, md5deep.exe, .ddf files and Group folders
7) Edit Support/Localization.ini file and add empty space front of languages under [LOCALES] which you don't want to be seen in Language selection screen.
8) Make patch/crack folder and add latest patches/cracks there
9) Burn or make iso with label NFSPROSTREET

English only

Report back if i made some mistakes and dvd5 doesn't work correctly, at least need more info about SOUNDNIsPs_nis_pc_xx_sbk files, does it only install one of these files for your language
You can check this by looking to game install folder Need for Speed ProStreet\SOUND\NIs

That would be weird if just compressing and removing some files would make it not burnable? but who knows, maybe its just this version with english/spanish/russian speech?

I don't own this multi3 version so i can't confirm anything or help how to burn it.

I don't know what caused the burn errors or what fixed it, but all I did was make an image file with Alcohol 120%, and then burned the image.

I don't know why I got 4 coasters with Nero and UltraISO. Maybe I had bad DVDs... but I've never run into 4 bad DVDs in a row in my life. I had an occasional bad DVD but the following one would always work. Never 4 in a row.

However, lately my DVD drive had been acting wierd too. It dissapears from My Computer every now and then. But whenever I see it, I don't have problems with it, and when I don't see it, I just reboot and it works. (Don't know if its to do with Vista.)

But in the end, burning with Alcohol 120% did the trick.

Thanks for the batch files ravd. This method and the files should be uploaded to GCW since its better than that DVD9-2-2xDVD5 method thats there! :)

Final size was 4.12GB together with 1.1 patch and extras!
