Ok here is the conversion in 'Detail'. It is for the 'English' version! ;)
No files to download except Orca if you dont already have it.
This way you actually learn how to do it yourselves and we wont have this senseless posting of useless junk.
The conversion DOES work! Ive written and tested it myself.
DVD 1
1) Create a Temp folder on your hardrive.
Name this folder: COD4_DVD1. This will be the name (Label) of DVD1.
2) Copy all the contents of the Call of Duty 4 DVD9 to the Temp folder.
3) Open the COD4_DVD1\Setup\Data folder and Delete the ‘miles’ folder.
4) Open the COD4_DVD1\Setup\Data\main folder and Delete the following files from the ‘main’ folder:
localized_english_iw02.iwd
localized_english_iw03.iwd
localized_english_iw04.iwd
localized_english_iw05.iwd
localized_english_iw06.iwd
5) Also in the COD4_DVD1\Setup\Data\main folder Delete the ‘Video’ folder.
6) In the COD4_DVD1\Setup\Data\zone folder is a folder named ‘english’.
Delete all the files in the ‘english’ folder EXCEPT the ‘village_defend.ff’ file.
7) Download and Install ‘Orca’ from HERE. (http://www.cd-2-dvd.com/downloads/orca.zip)
Once Orca is installed, Right Click the file ‘CoD4MW.msi’ and from near the top of the menu choose ‘Edit with Orca’. (You may have to edit the properties of this file and untick the ‘read only’ attribute, but as it is copied to the hardrive it is probably already edited automatically).
When opened you will see 2 window panes, go to the ‘Tables’ one on the left and scroll down to ‘Media’
Click on ‘Media’ this will show you the entries in the Right pane.
Here we need to edit both the original Rows and also Add another 2 Rows.
First we will edit the 2 original Rows.
In the ‘DiskPrompt’ Column double click the entry in the first Row.
Change the entry to: COD4_DVD1
Do the same in the DiskPrompt’ Column for Row 2.
In the ‘VolumnLabel’ Column, for both Rows, change the entries to: COD4_DVD1
In the ‘LastSequence’ Column, for Row 2, change the entry to: 68
Now we will Add another 2 Rows.
To Add another Row, Right click a blank area under the original Rows and choose ‘Add Row’ from the menu.
The Add Row box will appear. Fill in the following entries:
DiskId = 3
LastSequence = 200
DiskPrompt = COD4_DVD2
VolumnLabel = COD4_DVD2
Then Click OK.
Do the same again to Add a 4th Row.
This time our entries in the Row box will be:
DiskId = 4
LastSequence = 201
DiskPrompt = COD4_DVD1
VolumnLabel = COD4_DVD1
Then Click OK.
Now click on the ‘Save’ icon (the icon which looks like a floppy disc) to Save the changes.
8) Using the Notepad create a text file and name it Serial.txt. Copy your serial to this text file.
Save the Serial.txt file to the COD4_DVD1 folder.
9) Create another folder/s for any Updates, Patches and or Cracks etc.
NOTE: Name this/these folder/s whatever you want.
10) Burn the contents of the COD4_DVD1 folder to a DVD with the Label: COD4_DVD1
DVD 2
11) Create a Temp folder on your hardrive.
Name this folder: COD4_DVD2. This will be the name (Label) of DVD2.
NOTE: Instead of trying to explain the procedure on how to create the correct directory and file structure etc for DVD2, I will show you an easy way. It will seem like some unnecessary file copying but it is quicker and easier in the long run.
12) From the Call of Duty 4 DVD9 copy ‘only’ the ‘Setup’ folder to the COD4_DVD2 folder.
13) Now Open the COD4_DVD2\Setup folder and Delete the ‘rsrc’ folder.
14) Open the COD4_DVD2\Setup\Data\Mods folder and Delete the ‘ModWarfare’ folder.
15) Open the COD4_DVD2\Setup\Data\main folder and Delete the following files:
iw_00.iwd
iw_01.iwd
iw_02.iwd
iw_03.iwd
iw_04.iwd
iw_05.iwd
iw_06.iwd
iw_07.iwd
iw_08.iwd
iw_09.iwd
iw_10.iwd
iw_11.iwd
localized_english_iw00.iwd
localized_english_iw01.iwd
16) Open the COD4_DVD2\Setup\Data\zone\english folder and Delete the ‘village_defend.ff’ file.
17) Again from the Call of Duty 4 DVD9 copy the ‘autorun.inf’ file to the COD4_DVD2 folder.
18) Using the Notepad open the Autorun.inf file and edit as shown below then Save it:
[autorun]
open=0
icon=Setup\data\CoD4.ico
19) Burn the contents of the COD4_DVD2 folder to a DVD with the Label: COD4_DVD2
Installing
The install sequence will be DVD1, DVD2 then DVD1 again.
Because the install finishes with DVD1 it is better to include any patches, cracks etc on DVD1.

Good job again Grumpy....
100% works
ERASER_M

localized_german_iw02.iwd
localized_german_iw03.iwd
localized_german_iw04.iwd
localized_german_iw05.iwd
localized_german_iw06.iwd
DiskId LastSequence DiskPrompt Cabinet VolumeLabel
1 5 COD4_DVD1 PB.cab COD4_DVD1
2 66 COD4_DVD1 COD4_DVD1
3 198 COD4_DVD2 COD4_DVD2
4 199 COD4_DVD1 COD4_DVD1 Also dann: Bei DiskPrompt und VolumeLabel jeweils COD4_DVD1 eintragen
Also dann:
autorun.inf
Setup\Data\binkw32.dll
Setup\Data\cod.bmp
Setup\Data\cod4.ico
Setup\Data\codlogo.bmp
Setup\Data\iw3mp.exe
Setup\Data\iw3sp.exe
Setup\Data\localization.txt
Setup\Data\mss32.dll
[autorun]
open=0
icon=Setup\data\CoD4.ico
Hier nochmal die auflistung der Ordnerstruktur!

Thanks man, I tried these settings in the spanish version of the game and works fine.
Is it possible modify any files (ex .msi) so that the installation doesn't require the disk 1 at the end of installation?
I'm thinking same, nobody haven't mentioned anything why it must end to DVD1, is this thread cleaned? I don't have game but i would try this.
just follow conversion steps, do "village_defend.ff" file differently, move that to dvd2 too and in editing msi with orca no need to make 4 row, if english version then just this on 3 row
DiskId = 3

of course edit autorun.inf in DVD2 like they told. But like i said i don't have game so don't know if it works and is there reason not to end install on dvd2?
EDIT: did you mean editing anything else but not msi so it ends to dvd2? then answer is no, .msi decises where install ends

Yeah, you're right. After burning them into DVDs the installation runs without any problems. Great game!
Thanks!!!
Here is tutorial for polish version (probably only) of Call of Duty 4 based on @Grumpy tutorial.
If this necessary i will translate for english but on Sunday.
In the first, sorry for my English.
1.Stwórz folder tymczasowy DVD1.
1.Create a Temp folder DVD1.
2.Skopiuj zawartość oryginalnej płyty do tego folderu.
2.Copy all the contents of the oryginal DVD to this folder.
3.W folderze DVD1\Setup\Data\main skasuj folder video i następujące pliki:
3.In folder DVD1\Setup\Data\main delete folder video and following files:
iw_10.iwd
iw_11.iwd
localized_polish_iw00.iwd
localized_polish_iw01.iwd
localized_polish_iw02.iwd
localized_polish_iw03.iwd
localized_polish_iw04.iwd
localized_polish_iw05.iwd
localized_polish_iw06.iwd
4.Za pomocą programu ORCA wyedytuj plik CoD4MW.msi w zakładce media następująco:
4.In ORCA edit CoD4MW.msi in Media part like this:
DiskId LastSequence DiskPrompt Cabinet VolumeLabel
1 5 COD4_DVD1 PB.cab COD4_DVD1
2 130 COD4_DVD1 COD4_DVD1
3 198 COD4_DVD2 COD4_DVD2
4 199 COD4_DVD1 COD4_DVD1
5.Copy additiona files like patches etc.
6:Stwórz obraz/Wypal płytę z nazwą COD4_DVD1
6.Make image/Burn with name COD4_DVD1
7.Stwórz folder tymczasowy DVD2.
7.Create a Temp folder DVD2.
8.Skopiuj zawartość oryginalnej płyty do tego folderu.
8.Copy all the contents of the oryginal DVD to this folder.
9.W folderze DVD2\Setup\Data skasuj folder zone
9.In folder DVD2\Setup\Data delete folder zone
10.W folderze DVD2\Setup\Data\main skasuj następujące pliki:
10.In folder DVD2\Setup\Data\main delete following files:

open=0
icon=Setup\rsrc\CoD4.ico
12.Stwórz obraz/Wypal płytę z nazwą COD4_DVD2.
12.Make image/Burn with name COD4_DVD2.
And i know there i some doubled files in DVD1 and DVD 2 but it does not interupt in spliting.
Instalacja wygląda następująco.
Instal sequence will be:
DVD1-DVD2-error-DVD1=forks fine
This error is from windows not from game.But when i insert DVD 1 press retry game will be installed properly.
I too don't understand, why @ERASER_M can wrote in German but i can`t in Polish.
Could someone explain me the difference?

Hey thanks once again ravd. You really know how to simplify things. I liked your guide for NFSPS and now you've done it again. Your method works perfectly. Tried and tested!
But, I would have liked to get most of the COD4_DVD1 filled up to the max before splitting the rest to COD4_DVD2. That way, I can put all the 'extras' on DVD2, and for convenience, that's the DVD the installation ends on. Or is that not possibe?
i guess, you wont mount them. you must burn to real dvds.
Yeah, you're right. After burning them into DVDs the installation runs without any problems. Great game!
Thanks!!!
Why would an image that is unreadable become readable once burnt to disc? I don't get that. You obviously messed something up in the image.
My second DVD wasn't being read either, until I saw this:
I had tried to put DiskPrompt of the file .msi "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare DVD2" but when I am installing the installation doesn't recognize the dvd 2. When I put the COD4_DVD2 it works perfectly.
Why the value DiskPrompt and VolumeLabel cannot to be differents?
Thanks for mentioning this. Although the guides in this thread do say that DiskPrompt and VolumeLabel should be COD4_DVD2, I tried to get clever and use the full name "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare DVD2" for DiskPrompt because in the original msi file, the DiskPrompt value was "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare". I thought I could use something similar for my DVD2 (I left the VolumeLabel as COD4_DVD2). But it turned out that DVD2 couldn't be recognised.
After reading the above post, I changed the DiskPrompt and VolumeLabel to be same and it worked!

PROPER tutorial for Polish version.
Create a Temp folder and name this folder COD4_DVD1 -this will be the name (Label) of DVD1.
Copy all the contents of the original DVD to this folder.
In folder COD4_DVD1\Setup\Data\main delete folder video and following files:
localized_polish_iw00.iwd

DiskId LastSequence DiskPrompt Cabinet VolumeLabel
1 5 COD4_DVD1 PB.cab COD4_DVD1
2 132 COD4_DVD1 COD4_DVD1
3 192 COD4_DVD2 COD4_DVD2

Make image/burn with name (Label) COD4_DVD1.
Create another Temp folder and name this folder COD4_DVD2 -this will be the name (Label) of DVD2.
Copy all the contents of the original DVD to this folder.
Delete folder DirectX, Docs and Extras.
Delete any files form folder COD4_DVD2 except autorun.inf and edit that file in notepad like this:
[autorun]
open=0
icon=Setup\rsrc\CoD4.ico
In folder COD4_DVD2\Setup\Data delete all files and folders Mods and zone.
In folder COD4_DVD2\Setup\Data\main delete following files:
iw_00.iwd
iw_01.iwd
iw_02.iwd
iw_03.iwd
iw_04.iwd

Make image/burn with name (Label) COD4_DVD1.
Create another Temp folder and name this folder COD4_DVD2 -this will be the name (Label) of DVD2.
From the Call of Duty 4 DVD9 copy ‘only’ the ‘Setup’ folder to the COD4_DVD2 folder.
Now Open the COD4_DVD2\Setup folder and Delete the ‘rsrc’ folder.
Open the COD4_DVD2\Setup\Data\Mods folder and Delete the ‘ModWarfare’ folder.
Open the COD4_DVD2\Setup\Data\main folder and Delete the following files:
iw_00.iwd
iw_01.iwd
Open the COD4_DVD2\Setup\Data\zone\russian folder and Delete ALL the files from there.
Again from the Call of Duty 4 DVD9 copy the ‘autorun.inf’ file to the COD4_DVD2 folder.
Using the Notepad open the Autorun.inf file and edit as shown below then Save it:
[autorun]
open=0
icon=Setup\data\CoD4.ico
Burn the contents of the COD4_DVD2 folder to a DVD with the Label: COD4_DVD2
Installing
The install sequence will be DVD1, DVD2 then DVD1 again.
Because the install finishes with DVD1 it is better to include any patches, cracks etc on DVD1.

Thanks a lot mondragon... yes, it is a MSI based installer... But I remember disk prompt and volume label being different for most of the installations ( Crysis and so on ) but they worked fine. Is there any limitations like maximum acceptable characters for disk prompt? ( But Orca never gave me any warnings or errors when saving and the text which I entered was properly displayed as well ) I'm really confused now :(

i followed all the steps in grumpy's tutorial, but when i changed to disc1 again, it says "cannot complete installation" error messege and installation will shut down. but if i install the game again from disc1, it'll then ask if i want to "add shortcut to desktop" and finish. so the sequence is D1-D2-ERROR-D1
is it because i didnt install punkbuster?
i have the english version of game
and have double checked everything to be exact same as grumpy's
what went wrong?

Hey you guys, I have the same problem as 'aiexbadboy'. When I changed to disk 1 again, an error occurs "cannot complete installation" and setup can't complete. What' s wrong with this? I' ve tried many times but it still didn't work.

Awessome guide man but i have one small problem.
I've followed the instructions carefully and burned the discs. But when installing, it wont ask for the 1st disc again and i get a message that says that the file "mp_backlot.ff" is missing. But it isn't, when i search for it in disc two it is there. Any suggestions?

What will affect in the game if we remove all those files and folders? :eek:
DiskId = 3
LastSequence = 200
DiskPrompt = COD4_DVD2
VolumnLabel = COD4_DVD2
Then Click OK.
Do the same again to Add a 4th Row.
This time our entries in the Row box will be:
DiskId = 4
LastSequence = 201
DiskPrompt = COD4_DVD1
VolumnLabel = COD4_DVD1
[autorun]
open=0
icon=Setup\data\CoD4.ico

French Version
I dont know the directory compose of French Version
Setup\Data\zone\english\ or Setup\Data\zone\french\ ?
0x040C.ini ??
the directory compose of French Version is Setup\Data\zone\french\
and 0x040C.ini is the right one
But infortunatly, this doesn't work, the installation dont ask me to put disk2 ! Maybe an error in the msi file ?

It works now, but oddly Windows xp knew all the changes I made on the msi file, as if it kept the original version in the Windows temporary folder and use it instead of the modified msi file.
