Getting tha case apart is becoming a real toll on me & I'm quite sure the techies at M$ don't mess around with plastic from a DVD spindle to open their cases up :D
So to all who work in plastics, if you can make a GC biglid then I'm sure you can make a 360 opening tool PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE ;)
There are tools on the market from Team Xecuter specifically designed to do the job, but why go to that expense? The easy, fool-proof method which I use works perfectly for me with no hassle:
1. Take the top and bottom plastic sides off.
2. Take the faceplate & Warrenty Sticker off.
3. Lift up the 4 plastic tabs on the front.
4. Turn the console so it's front is on your desk (Back is in the air, tabs facing you). Pull the 2 shells apart as far as you can.
5. Use a precision screwdriver bit (smallest) and push it through the holes. The tabs 'click' and the two halves of the shell come straight apart with no fuss or problems.
Works for me anyway ;)

A lot of case modders use the tool so they don't scratch or warp the holes, especially if they had already painted it.

I tried something similar but marked the casing (not bad but noticable when you looked) so went back to my bits of plastic

why is microsoft so dumb about that. I think we have a right to do that, so why make it difficult if they know it's gonna happen anyway?

A quick search on ebay for xbox unlocking tool reveals a very cheap/simple device that I'm very happy with ;)

They don't care because they won't support a void warranty. The xbox case has no screws on it. It may be hard to open, but that is because a screwless design still needs to be secure.
