Best game of all time? Newbie

Hi all,

I'm new here. I was having a discussion at my own forum the other day over which game was the best of all time. The feeling was America's Army was one of the better but then someone said FIFA. What's your take..since this is a more active forum?

i'd say shenmue...zelda ocarina of time or oblivion...probaly in that order.

if it is just pc games then The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for me,without doubt.

fifa is one of the worst for me lol! (im a massive pro evo fan)

i didnt like america's army atall either...its hardly battlefield 2 is it? lol

Ya. I agree about Fifa. A lot of my admins might disagree about Army though... They are pretty hardcore about it.

I thought Pacman was the best game ever made. It was number one when it came out 26 and a half years ago and still seems to find its way onto everything from my 360 to my cellphone:) plus I think it might have been cloned more than Tetris if thats possible. Seriously though my favorite game changes from month to month, right now I've been playing some Battlefield 2142 and a little bit of Sid Meires Railroads but if I was to pick one game that I used most of my spare time on this year, it would be Civ 4. I guess Civ 4 would be my pick for best game ever even though I've had more fun playing games such Karaoke Revolution Party, but the novelty of these types of games wear off very quickly.

You should all bow down to the amazing game that is elite.

Also 3D construction set/Games made with it on the ZX48k/128k was a breakthrough, first true 3d games on an 8 bit machine. Which led to doom etc in years to come.

I can already hear you guys laugh, but as I've never really been into all the RTS and RPG games my favourite one would be Mafia :)
I've never seen a game more authentic (except for some of the AI-problems ^^) and fun to play, dunno...
I could have said HL2, but that's the usual stuff you cannot identify with since everyone would mention it as his/her favourite

Ah, I'm a huge PES fan, even tho a very crappy one with no skills at all, but that's cool for me :) Fun is the essential part, no need to win (for me) :p

I recommend the following games from my near 23 years of gaming :p

Speccy - The Great Escape. Never did manage to escape mind you. Everytime I did, I was captured again. Was it even possible to escape without being caught?
C64 - There can be only one. IK+
Master Syetem - Alex Kidd in Miracle World. Although, Sonic 2 could tie it first. Actually so could Grand Prix. Hous of enjoyment out of that little racing game due to being able to make your own tracks!
Mega Drive - Too numerous to mention. Sonics, Streets of Rage, Street Fighter, Rock n Roll Racing, Speedball 2, Sensible Soccer, the original FIFA Soccer, EA/NHLPA Hockey. The list could go on and on. Loved this machine!
Playstation - Gran Turismo 2, Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy 8.
SNES - Super Mario Kart.
GBA - Super Mario Kart. :D
PS2 - GTA3, Vice City, Resident Evil 4 and Gran Turismo 3. GT4 just didnt feel right.
360 - Bioshock, COD4MP, The Orange Box (all of it, if anything TF2 lets it down due to getting no support from Valve :mad: ) UT3 gets a mention as well, simply for being Unreal. Facing Worlds is perfect.
PC - Half-Life, Op4, Team Fortress Classic, Mafia and Deus EX

Overall, I gotta say the best game ever, ever, ever is, well, I dont know! If pushed, I would say Half-Life for SP and TFC for MP :cool:

Ahh the Great Escape was very possible to escape.

You needed the fake passport, uniform, erm something else I cant remember think it was motorbike keys.
